Suppressor (aka moderator, silencer) fun - shot my cans
Yesterday, I shot 60rds of XM855 62gr 5.56 through my 30 cal Dead Air Nomad-L yesterday. Works good, no ear ring without hearing protection. My Eotech was still right on on for my 25yd gongs. The can gets hot!!!
I'm using Dead Air's Key-Mo mount that allows me to swap this suppressor to multiple rifles that have DA flash hiders on them. Currently it's on my PSA Nitride 556 AR pistol kit using an Anderson "Poverty Pony" lower.
I also have a DA flash hider on my 308 Savage Scout (pics to follow). Have 2 more flash hiders I need to install on other rifles.
Also have a Gemtech Lunar 9 that will mount on my Glock 19, 26, and FN Hi Power. It's really quiet about like a 22 short out of handgun.
The process of getting the stamps took 8.5 months for the ATF to approve them. I registered them as an individual and used Silencer Shop's Kiosk at my local dealer to process everything. Other than the long wait it was pretty painless.
Probably going to go buy a 22LR can. Will need to pickup a Ruger Mk__ pistol to go with that.
Have a suppressor holster on order from these guys:
Of course to use that holster, I needed buy a pair of Surefire X300 pistol lights. 1st world problems.

Nice- You may consider using a trust for the silencers instead of individual. It seems most ppl I have been talking to go that route. I am thinking about a silencer fir my 6.8SPC that could also go on my 556 AR’s.
An excellent post. Thanks for the link to the holsters. Yes, those rifle caliber cans get hot!
I looked into a trust 10 years ago when I 1st moved here to MO. At the time, prices were ranging $500 just for the trust.
As an individual, the suppressors can still be willed to my beneficiaries tax free with a form sent to the ATF with a copy of my death certificate. So really the trust doesn't have much benefit to me. Friends and family members can still shoot my suppressors under my supervision.
It seems to me the outside of the can would be enhanced by some heat exchanging fins. Hmmm.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Wait, are you calling Mark and Nunn supressors?
Just the opposite.. to keep down the heat coming off and lessen the mirage
I've found that buying mounts for all the rifles I want to use can become a huge money pit. That has changed how I look at buying another can. I have mounts for Rugged and YHM so have decided to stick with those brands or use the direct thread option.
The situation has gotten a bit better since some manufacturers have semi-standardized the tail cap mount threads to 1 3/8x 24(?). I found a YHM kit that replaces the tailpiece of the can with a YHM QA mount and costs about the same as some of the brand specific mounts.
