How do I get an FFL to ship my shotgun

Is there a specific reason that you can't ship it yourself? If you don't feel up to it, do a search by typing in FFL and your zip code- that should yield quite a few.

We've got good water! It comes straight out of Elgin's treatment plant!

To whom (& where) do you want to ship the shotgun? Yes, it does matter.

First (folks, that is his first post. Cut him some slack) if you are in the US, and transferring the shotgun to someone else....

You can legally MAIL an unloaded shotgun by US Mail. This is covered in the Domestic Mail Manual under Restricted Mailings, section 423.3. If a clerk gives you crap, ask for the Postmaster. See extract at bottom of this post.

If going to another state, you need to send it TO a FFL in the DESTINATION state. Person receiving the gun can go to the home page for gunbroker.com, use the "find a FFL" function- put in their zip code, pull up FFLs in that area that will receive a gun for transfer.

Put a letter in with the gun, listing your name, and name and phone number gun is going TO. Attach a xerox of your driver's license so the dealer has information he needs to log the gun in.

You can also ship by FedEx or UPS, but you will need to take it to a hub- NOT a storefront. Those are franchises, NOT UPS or FedEx.

Once you know FFL the gun is going to, if you WANT to, you can use the same search engine to find a FFL where YOU are, have them pack and ship it for a fee.
