I was out and about a day or two ago and scared up some birds in a fence row I was walking... About a dozen of them came out of the weeds and lower underbrush. This one landed in a nearby tree. It appears to be a dove but is larger and more colorful than the ones I have hunted in the fall. I assume there are different sub species of doves.

Eurasian Collared Dove, I believe.
An invasive species.
Spot on.........
Not so sure, the collared ones have a black collar, and white around the eyes, that appears to have a darker head. They taste good though..
probably the female Eurasian.. out here only the male sports the vibrant dark collar, the female's is kinda faint and hard to see at times.
So do they have a season for them or is it the same as Morning Dove or just shoot anytime ?
Missouri mourning dove?
In Oregon they're considered an invasive species, so there's no limit or season on them. I've shot quite a few in my back yard.
Certainly a dove, and not a mouring dove. Probably female Eurasia collared dove is my best too.
A farmer friend of mine had an infestation of them around his grain silos and had me bring out the extended magazine M2 a couple years ago.
He brought out a case of trap loads and we went at it. My shoulder still hurts!
