M1 Carbine operation question

I have a 43 built carbine that was arsenal rebuilt in 52. It started life as a Saginaw and was re-worked with a SA 52 barrel and other parts. I went to the range today with a mix of old & new Ammo. I had several miss fires with the older Ammo. My question is after the miss fire the bolt seem to lock in place. I pulled and pulled on the charging handle until it released. I also put the safety on and sometimes it seem to release the bolt. Have any of you experienced this? Is there a condition or action I need to preform to clear this up? Is there anyone like Mark Christian (Garands ) that has Carbine Knowledge that I can contact ? Thanks for any help.

Hard to diagnose without the gun in hand. I would run a box of new commercial ammo and if the problem no longer manifests itself, discard the offensive ammo and move forward.
This
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
If fresh ammo doesn't solve the problem, you need a "technical inspection" performed by a competent gunsmith who has the correct gauges, tools, parts, & knowledge. I know that Fulton Armory can do it, but you may be able to find someone local to do that.
Many carbines were loaned to the S Korean Army during the Korean War, & subsequently brought back to the US & sold to the public. Many of these were used hard, & sometimes were improperly repaired due to lack of replacement parts. For your safety, it's important that an experienced gunsmith check it out.

Did the primer go off but not the powder, cratering the primer on the bolt face?
The primer did not go off, dry fire. Small detent in primer.
Sorry not dry fire but misfire
