Mr. Perfect to the Rescue!

Thanks again for the assist with directions, Randy.

I was passing through Mr. P's area yesterday with a pickup full of tile and pulling an 18' flatbed trailer with more tile and 2400 square feet of carpet and pad. I had my dogs with me and one of them told me it was time for 'the pause that refreshes' so I pulled into a rest area. When I got out I smelled burning rubber and noticed a bit of smoke from the left rear tire area of my pickup. "This ain't right", thought myself to me... I had no idea where to go for help but knew there had to be a Les Schwab tire store somewhere nearby. (You can't swing a dead cat in the Pacific Northwest without hitting a Les Schwab store.) Well, I had Mr. Perfect's phone number so I gave him a call and got perfect directions from where I was to the nearest Schwabs.

Took about 4 hours for them to get the rig diagnosed and put back together. It turns out that the left rear brake calipers had some rust built up and it did not release completely. The bearings were fine but the tech noticed a little oil where there shouldn't be oil and sure enough, the seal had started seeping a bit. New seals, new rotors, new calipers. $605 out the door and down the road. Turned what should have been a 9 hour trip into more of a 13 hour trip, but I reckon that beats the rig catching on fire in the middle of BFE!

Thanks again, Randy!
