Got the email from the Social Security folks that my request for Retirement benefits is approved and I'll receive first payment in July. Had 47 years of work history paying in to it according to their website...

So you are on the gov't dole now. 😀 Enjoy your retirement, you earned it!
Been collecting mine for 3 years now and even got a $20 or so raise a while back. To bad that won't buy much ammo at today's prices but I'll be ready if the prices ever go down. Bob
Congratulations, been collecting mine for several years and it felt good to start getting something back after paying in for 51 years.
Remember that SS Retirement CAN be taxable, but they don't withold taxes unless you ask.
Yeah, I know- everybody in the world knows that except me- but it was a hell of a surprise first time I did my taxes after I started drawing SS. As in- "What the BLEEEP do you mean I owe Uncle Sugar 9 grand????"
congrats
wish you a long and enjoyable retirement
as for me I forget what day it is ( not from being old I know that helps ) mostly from not caring 😁
its been 7 years and counting since I walked out the company's door last time. funny I do not miss any of it 😉 . and yes its wrong to have to pay tax on it . but uncle Sam and uncle joe need all the cash for there voters LOL
Congrats. Keep active.
When your watch battery fails, no worries! You will have the most accurate time piece twice a day! 🙂
P.S. It took 2 years for my tan line to show up on my left wrist!
brooks when I take my watch off I have that " white watch " from the tan lines. I tell everyone that is my retirement watch, for when you just don't really care what time it is........
The sooner the better, Ive got 22 years under my belt.
Retired for 15 years now. I feel like I was born to be retired.
In for the giveaway!
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Congrats I've been getting benefits for a whopping 6 years now.
Coming up to the two year mark. Congrats Ruger!
You're in the money now Ruger4me. 🤣
I had to wait until full retirement age because I didn't want to stop working and have been receiving SS for 16+ years now. By my calculations after working for 51 years I should get all my contributions back in just 8 more years. 😕
Life is good,
It is not like this is a major accomplishment, I mean all you have to do is hold a job for 40+ years, manage not to die or get killed (and not having more than 4 ex wives helps) while you stack up the required quarters. Anyone could do it.
Congrats!
going on 4 years, when the wife asks what I did all day, I tell her, whatever I wanted to do........
and when she gets on me for laying on couch, I just look at her and say, I get paid to lay on the couch, thats when I get that look, and then have to order pizza for myself.......
Quote; I get paid to lay on the couch, thats when I get that look, and then have to order pizza for myself.......
And you end up getting to enjoy that couch for the next several nights!! 😁
