My brother's new lawn mower....the talk of the neighborhood!
I was driving home from the beach when my brother called and told me if I was passing by the area I should come by and check out what was going at his place. He said he got a new mower and a bunch of his neighbors were mesmerized. He said if I came to bring snacks!
Sure enough, I drive over there and I see the guy across the street from his place standing on his porch staring at my brother's place and another guy sitting in his car that is parked on the side of the road, window down just looking at his yard.
I see my brother on his back porch looking at this thing rolling around the yard. He has always been a gadget guy, so this thing is perfect for him. It is doing a great job on his yard too.
That is a downloaded image.....for some reason my pictures want to upload sideways today!

I've been thinking about getting one.
We have a lawn service here that leases those for just the summer (mowing season). They will mow every day. When the battery is low they go to the docking station for recharging. Works about the same as an automatic vacuum. Not sure how they set boundaries for them.
He said that he was VERY glad he had the guy that sold it to him install the system. They spent 10 hours putting in all the boundary wires and such. It gets confused when it runs over the charter cable....so that is an issue. He had to put some sand in places where it got stuck going over some uneven areas, but for the most part it has been awesome. He can't quit playing with the thing and looking at the little map showing where all it has mowed on his phone.
Nice!
Just think: A fly-away robotic lawn mower!

“Honey why is the mower mowing swear words in the lawn??”
“It’s the neighbor kid, he hacked the mower again”
Those are usually for 1/4 acre or less. Reckon if you had a large yard a few could be put down at once.
You might need a fleet of 30 of those things, FCD!
So how many do in need to do my three acre yard ???
I guess in a few years I will need a hundred or so little "electric" things to farm the rest of our place since anything that runs on fossil fuels is evil...How long does it take to charge up a combine I wonder ?
I'd need 3.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I guess I would need a dozen...think I will just keep the JD for now
Not interested.......no cup holder.
I think my brother has 3 acres....but its all flat with a few minor trees and such to get around. His house is the corner lot of the neighborhood and one of his neighbors has a privacy fence along one side of his yard. He has two driveways, one makes a circle at the front of the yard along the front door area and the other one comes to the back of his house where his garage is. The largest area is around back, where his place meets two other neighbor's yards. I'm working on getting him to put in a pool......since I haven't been able to get Larry to OK that plan over here. For now, the driveways section things off into three areas and the little mower just beebops all over the place throughout the day AND night.....docking itself whenever the power gets low. He said it has 6 blades that are on a disk that are $12 to replace. He said he can tell it to stay docked if he thinks it needs to stop mowing. I was surprised that it is set to dock just out there beside the house, uncovered. I thought they would want it to be under the porch or in a doghouse type thing while its not in operation.
I asked about theft....its got some GPS thing built into it and you cannot get it to be functional unless you are the owner. There have been a few that were stolen, but of the three that the seller knew of being stolen all three were found and returned to the owner.
One of our local Lowes stores had one on display awhile back. They had it in a fenced in enclosure, I suspect to keep the little children and slow learning adults from sticking their fingers up under it.
I predict next there will be YouTube videos of Pugs riding them with little bomber helmets and goggles.
Totally appropriate for your Neighborhood.... (back when SNL was funny)
Hope you had a great Birthday at the Beach!!!
Just wait until the folks from the Robot Liberation Front show up and start picketing.....
