I am shocked .
but then again another PAID day off for the government boys and girls easy vote on that one
that discriminates against those of us who don't have teeth, bunch of racists.........
Just wait, the LBGT community will be demanding their national holiday next.
Wondering when the auction is in Charleston? Tax payers paying for then to have housing, SSI benefits and not working. I think they have it wrong.
...Still NOT a done deal...has to get passed by the Repubs in the House...an iffy proposition...of course if it gets past the House, you know the jerk in the White House will sign it into law...
I had better get started on creating a new greeting card for this special day. Trying to figure out if the card should be comical or serious in nature. If I get that one thing right, it should make for a very lucrative payday at 4 bucks a shot for the average card.

jimdeere, I assume you drink from the bottle and you dog laps from the glass.
😉
The Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Tuesday establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day, a US holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
The legislation has gained momentum since the massive Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the police killing of George Floyd last year and the Democrats' takeover of the White House and Congress.
Here it is:
:Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.
Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day, a week, and in some areas a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. It is a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future.
It is a real shame that we just cannot have an inclusive holiday that celebrates our independence.
The observation of June 19th is important to all Americans, as it recognizes the end of a significant wrong. Regardless of the the petty bickering about an actual date, the United States of American took a great stride forward in the elimination of involuntary servitude. We are better today because of it, and that fact must be celebrated.
Frankly, it was made law by the construct of our founding, the tyranny of Abraham Lincoln and his oppressive war of inclusion. It would have organically ended due to economics and the enlightenment that would have been forced upon the Southern States by their European customers anyway.
So, yes, let us all celebrate the independence of all Americans. I choose to do it on 4 July, but any who reject that date in favor of 19 June are welcome, in my mind, to do so. Hopefully, those who celebrate on the 19th recognize the importance of July 4th as well, though we seem to be moving away from any such unifying concept.

They have the whole month of Feb. for Black HIstory.
Well select-fire, I guess one month isn't enough.
😕
The name is dumb but the rights acknowledged were noteworthy.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
It stated years ago with the acknowledgement of the phony holiday called Kwanza.
Thats our anniversary, 40 years this year. And now its a national holiday.
Lock_Stock_and_Darryl , "Juneteenth. I intend to celebrate with all the respect the holiday is due." which is?
😯
You 'da Man!
I too plan to ignore it and drive on with what I am doing.
Congress approved it.
I hate to have a negative outlook concerning our country select-fire, but it's so easy
with current news.
😒
well since I am retired and such Holidays I never got paid for any and never really cared about . now like the government leaches getting another paid day off . isn't that special
just another day for me
Humbug!
Keep focusing on our differences and crying about discrimination?
This June 19th was a kind of Holiday in TX back 50 years or more ago. I had never heard of it and I have lived most of my life in the South. Then about 10 or 15 years ago I started hearing about it. I knew what it was but it started getting more and more coverage.
I guess it was taught in school.
Well now its a holiday, big deal most folks will not even know what its about or will have some skewed view of it. Keep up the division.
Maybe the gang bangers will shoot it out in celebration.
I'm still waiting on a Native American history month...
This is a well targeted Federal Holiday.
Celebrating a day when an over-represented minority no long had to go to work with a day where that same over-represented minority does not have to go to work.

What is wrong with celebrating this new holiday on June Tenth?
It's part of the Marxist program to confuse things with made up or redefined words. And this is, of course, part of the neoMarxist agenda to undermine our National History by redefining when our independence day truly is. I am all for celebrating the emancipation of slaves, but it's not a national independence day and the name for this holiday is stupider than Biden spittle.

@Flying Clay Disk ,
"They'll think we were a bunch of short-bus window lickers, that's what they'll think!"
But it started in Texas!
Everything is bigger in Texas! Even the short buses are full sized, down there...
Sorry. Lighten up Francis, it's a joke.
I might could get behind a yee haw day.

Karma... Saying the civil War was fought with the Rebels and Yankees. Then the Blacks tearing down civil war statutes... Then wanting a day because of the Civil War.
So one more day that employers will have to pay employees for doing nothing.
Yeah...........my birth month😣
Just another bunch of lefty BS. Thanks, Creepy Joe and *.........
Thinking September with Labor Day... Should be White Privilege Month
