I like the way the place looks when the hay has been cut...

Is that a John Deere 4020?
The guy that leases our farmland harvested his wheat last week. It is kind of neat just watching others do all the work. All that is left are the big round straw bales and I guess they are already spoken for. In spite of having what they called a moderate drought, he got a pretty good yield this year. He manages the land well and has made some improvements over the years so I hope he sticks around for a long time. Bob
Nice!
Yes....that is my neighbor's tractor.
The neighbor has farmed our place for the last 45 years or so...He does all of the heavy lifting.....I try to be helpful, but mostly I stay out of his way....
Great pics.............how much does a round bale go for in your neck of the woods?
Depends if you are buying or selling !!!!!!
Good Hay crop around here this year so 40.00 seems to be the going rate depending on if they come and get it or you deliver it...
Dang...........I think round bales in Central TX go for between $80-$100
That's pretty cheap, what kind of hay? Cow, horses? around here right now 65 -80 is going rate for good quality coastal Bermuda and about 50 for cow quality which has weeds and Johnson grass in the bales... And we ain't talking delivered, you pick it up and if your lucky they will load on your trailer...
I guess when I try to sell it in the next few weeks I will have a better idea of the price here......we grow a lot of hay in this neck of the woods...I know many of the larger producers truck it all over the place where there is a greater demand...I usually have between 40-60 bales depending on the year....
Mainly fescue grass and clover....I fertilize it every year...
Generally it is purchased for cattle use.
Hay is for horses and the first stage of bull-scat!
I ripped many an acre with a JD 4020, with a Synchro 8 speed. Biggest tractor in the neighborhood, pulled 4X16 plow. What a hell-of-a-tractor.
The corn looks good.
WE wore out a 4020 and got a 4520 which was a 4020 with a turbo. Called it "Big Dog", pulled a 9-shank Big Ox ripper 16" deep or a 20' big sweep plow in our sandy loam.
Neighbor here in KY uses a JD 60 when bailing his hay. Can't miss that Poppin' Johnny singing.
We got in late this year. Lots of rain in April and May. It should tassel out this week…
