I stopped by CVS and got the shot today...if it makes anyone I deal with feel better, I'm in.

Locust ForkLocust Fork Member Posts: 32,005 ✭✭✭✭

While I'm totally against the idea of having to prove you got a shot to do anything.....I can't think of a good enough reason not to get it, so I did. I deal with so many people who are older and susceptible to major problems if they catch it, so if its something I can do to ease anyone's mind I can't see why not do it.

I've gotten every vaccination they've ever come up with when I was a child, plus the mystery cocktail they shot me up with when I joined the Navy. The Pfizer shot is close to being FDA approved, which is what I was waiting for....so since I have so many trips coming up I thought I'd get this over with in case it did affect me.

I had covid last July and it wasn't all that bad for me. I know its a crap shoot as to how its going to go, so as I'm traveling around the country....I'm not going to be Typhoid Mary from Alabama.

Where's George Carlin or andy Rooney when you need them. ( Yeah I know, dead.) You're required to wear a seat belt & put your kids in a booster or baby seat. You're required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses or other protective gear to work certain jobs. Etc, etc, etc. BUT, you biotch about wearing a stupid mask or getting vacinated. Comrade, it's for your own good as well as the common good. You've already given in to so many things, what's a little more? 😣

I'm the same....I rarely get sick and when I did catch covid all it did was made me VERY tired. I hadn't felt like going to bed at 7pm ever before that I could remember. I figure if it helps take the worry off of people that have me coming to visit them and take their guns with me, its worth it to get this handled. Its not so much about giving in on my ideals, but just making the people around me more comfortable when they deal with me. Its such an easy thing to do.

We waited a few months until enough were given without bad side effects. If asked, I wear a mask. I deal with elderly relatives who have also been vacinated, but don't want to worry.

my wife told me if the demand she get a shot at work she will quit and she tells me more have said the same thing ( my wife I know will the others maybe a couple but most are just blowing smoke

when the great POS commander and chief in office makes every last illegal there letting in every day take the shots last I heard a lot are refusing it . after that then I will consider it

also way too many health workers are saying no way and too many people still getting sick and dying even after the shot

to me its a personal choice the saying "my body my choice" has been the battle cry for many so its a good enough for me

I have no good or bad feelings any one wants too or does not want it its there personal choice nothing too me .

for the heck of it lets just let the politician's decide go for broke maybe big brother can demand the population can no longer smoke or drinking alcohol or produce sell or even own it look at the life's that would save even in medical bills and as a bonus no one on welfare can buy any junk food of any kind only produce and grain foods cut back on obesity and diabetes why stop at forcing us to get shots

The game changer .. booster shots. They want to start passing them out. So that tells me the cocktail doesn't last that long in the system. Going up today to get punctured. Wife gets hers tomorrow. She wants to see if I get a reaction or die prior to taking hers. Visiting my Mom in the nursing home soon and don't want to go there without again. She is vaccinated and still going strong at 93

Slippery slope having to prove a vaccination, what could be next? Show me your papers....What if they have a shot that makes you return to the gender you were born as could they mandate that too?

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I got it too but there is no way I am going to carry around my "little" frickin card to prove it too whomever. You can take my word or KMA.

I think its a smart move LF. I just got mine the other day too at Walgreens.

I also got my first shot this past Friday (Moderna). Second shot to be September 3rd. I didn't have many clients asking me if I had been vaccinated or not and most of them know my political beliefs. However, I see a lot of different folks in my office and began to be concerned about the possible number of folks that may be asymptomatic and that I could have an issue with the new variant. We were very careful about disinfecting after someone left the office during tax season, but have become a bit lax about that since then.

Call me ignorant, but I thought if you contracted and recovered from a virus, that's even better than a vaccine?

I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Same here. Everyone has a choice. I carry a firearm by choice to protect myself.

I had it in Feb 2020. When I had my physical and check up the DR did a blood test to check me for Rocky Mtn Spotted fever(which I also had). The restults came back that the C-19 antibody's were gone.

Just saw on the news this morning that immunity from having covid is a shorter time span than the vaccine. Also that immunity from having covid isn't as effective against the new variants. This was a local hospital Dr. and not Fauci or the feds giving that report, so I give it some credibility.

I had my second Moderna shot in February but am not worried yet about a booster because of their recent report of it still being 93% effective after 6 months.

I don't really care if someone does or does not get the vaccine. By now all should know the pros and cons of vaccination and we should open the country fully. Time to let personal responsibility take over from govt. overreach. Bob

I had the Trump Vaccine (J&J 1 hitter) back in April. I survived.

I'd feel like a freaking moron if I didn't get the Trump Vaccine and landed in the Hospital.

I got "the jab" months ago myself, and for pretty much the same reason as you, LF. The "scientific community" has done studies, issued reports, collected data, run computer models, recommended measures, suggested mandates, even created law in the form of eviction moratoriums. Those were in defiance of the SCOTUS and the U.S constitution. Based on my own (and my family's) personal experience, I believe the vaccines are next to worthless. In our own sphere, many have contracted the wuflu and become quite sick, a couple have died. Of those who survived, most were vaccinated. Those who died were vaccinated. We're advised that "the jab" helps prevent serious symptoms, hospitalization and death. That hasn't been my experience and I can't help but believe my lyin' eyes. Vaccinated or unvaccinated, we're all guinea pigs to the "scientific community". When the scientists (Fauci, Jerome Adam's, Walensky, etal) lie to us about the science, the science loses all credibility.

I read a couple of studies that pretty much agreed with the one you linked to. I also read things like this

that don't exactly agree with the other studies. You would think that after more than a year and a half of this crap someone would get their stories straight. It is amazing how much misinformation there is on such a small organism like a virus. Since a lot of infections are asymptomatic, I don't even know if I have had it or not. Judy and I came in contact with several people that had covid and did isolate for a couple of weeks with no symptoms and I just assumed our vaccines worked, but who knows?. Bob

All I know is that I am hearing increasing reports of medical facilities that aren't even testing for covid if they know the patient has been vaccinated. That is going to seriously skew numbers. That is the case for a small hospital in Hawaii (and one of my wife's co-workers was wanting to implement a similar policy in the hospital where they work!) and my SIL, who sees covid patients daily reports that the other doctors in the clinics where she rotates do not test for COVID if they know the pt. has been vaccinated. To me, that's pretty disturbing.

I was really waiting on the FDA to get on board with one of the shots...that was my only reservation about getting it done already. They kept going on about how we needed to get it, but the "people in charge" of everything approved and guiding the standard hadn't stamped their banner on anything. When I heard they are going to approve the Pfizer one in September I went on ahead and got it done.

These are the bossy butts that say who can and cannot make cheese a certain way....what medications everyone takes....how long milk can sit on the shelf....how they are allowed to ship produce....decide what age you can give your kids over the counter everything...and they were just fine with letting everyone get poked by whatever nonsense they came out with for the past year. I needed to know they were at least looking into some of this mess we are all being asked to do.
