Me too, but I bought beer..
...Beef, Pork and chicken aren't too high priced here...higher than this time last year, but not real bad...yet....Grilling a ribeye later...store was out of a few odd & ends a few weeks ago, but shelves are full here...
...Altogether...can we say..."Biden bites"! ...
Wife said bacon was $7+ a pound the other day. I might have to buy a couple of shoats next Spring.
you might try the bacon spam, if sliced thin enough it will crisp up like bacon, and almost tastes as good, we use it for BLT's and you can't hardly tell the difference excep the shape..............
I joked with one of the meat cutters I was going to have to buy beggin' bacon strips for Dogs.
was in a place yesterday getting a po-boy and was looking in their meat display while i was waiting. rib-eye was 19.99lb.
You might try some possum jerky and have PLT 's just saying.
about the same price here
Yesterday I noticed tthat meat prices were high. Thought once the summer vacationers were gone prices would have gone back down to notmal prices.
I went to the meat section, just tonight. Planning for the weekend.
Turns out, it's free, cause we all know how cheap it is to fill your freezer with wild game...
Who buys meat in a store?...
It's a bi-product of the village idiot in charge of something ( lord knows I don't know what).
We're saving money by shutting down oil and gas supplies, and killing the farming industry in one sweep of the wand.
Gee, I feel so much better now that we have one of the three stooges in charge of my life and liberties!
Beck and others claim the gov. is going to ban the cows from public land. He is a rancher and 100% guarantees they will end beef.
The deer and elk meat in my freezer cost the same today as it did last November.
Prices are higher her locally and quantities are limited, been buying Omaha steaks for a couple of years now, but miss raising my own... was supplementing with what I could get from Kroger and Walmart, but they bot have gone very high and little selection, Omaha is pricey but at least it is decent, got to get me another steer...
Again...........I work in a meat market.........tip to all of you carnivores..........pork is the only thing not sharply increasing in price. "THE OTHER WHITE MEAT"
Around here all meat and chicken has gone up in price compared to what it was just a few weeks ago. I shopped yesterday at our local Meijers store and caught a bad case of sticker shock over the packaged beef cooler. Decided on pork but found even it had been priced about 30% higher than my last visit!!
Thankfully, my freezer has enough in stock to keep me away from the supermarket at least until deer season opens up in mid November!
BBQ.... Food Lion has the boston butts... we make pulled pork for .99 pound. We eat BBQ. We do not eat deer every meal.
And again, Possum is still cheaper and it's white. Do you guys have shank of possum ?and if you do it won't last long!
Neighbor to my east side, runs a beef outfit. All organic, open range grass-fed.
Been carrying a bunch now for over 6 months past their prime due to the packing plants are so screwed up. Now, those of you who know cattle, those beef are costing him money to carry he will never earn back. A beef gets so big and that is that, it ain't worth any more just because you have to feed it.
Bought one from him last year. It worked out to $4.83 a pound for the beef, trucking to the plant, cutting, wrapping and freezing. Feels good when I grab a couple of steaks out of the freezer for grilling when I see what prices are today for a good cut of beef.
I was going to back off the deer harvest this year as I still have venison in the freezer. The way things are sounding I may shoot a couple extra.
My butcher had a YEAR backlog for receiving beefs after this craziness started. It slowed down some but he is still many months behind. We are going to be dealing with these shortages and high prices for at least another year.
+1
Luckily I have an unlimited supply of wild pork and the sausage I made from it in my freezer.
I'm going to the grocery store at 2am..........I'll let you know how it is.
Shouldn't be crowded
Unfortunately they dress in flip flops and pJ's anytime of the day here.
I would be concerned to wear a tutu in walmart anytime of the day, let alone early morning hours................
I am picking up a grocery order in the morning. From Walmart.
The local grocery store here had choice ribeyes for $23.99 a pound.
Wow
Game meat CHEAP?😲 lf you live in the suberbs lt's $2000 minimum for dues at the Hunt Club, $30,000+ for 4WD pickup. Are you old like ME ? A Gator or Side by Side may be needed to get to the stand. Another $5000. Rifle/Scope $1000 minimum. Good binoculars and spotting scope, another $1500. Don't even mention hunting licenses and clothes. lf you plan spending the night, Another $10Grand for a camper.
Diver, l respectfully disagree. l believe Game meat is the MOST expensive on Earth🤑🤑🤑
Makes me feel better that we got a 1/3 of a beef at 3.29 per pound. Went in with two other families. Nice being able to buy local raised beef.
A friend of mine in Seattle guesstimates the salmon he catches in Puget Sound are around $500 / lb.
Cleaned up the garden, and set the heifers out in it.
Sadly, the calves I sell this fall won't reflect the "local" grocery store prices...
"I was going to back off the deer harvest this year as I still have venison in the freezer. The way things are sounding I may shoot a couple extra."
I made the suggestion that all of the 2020 meat be consolidated and all the 'stuff' that's accumulated in the freezers be utilized or fed to the cats & dogs. The limiting factor on deer harvest here is freezer space(I have 3X 19 cubic footers and Son has 2X 22-24 cubic footers). I plan to shoot a smaller cow or a big calf elk this year so we have more space for homegrown deer.
Haven't checked with the local processor yet but last year, they weren't doing deer. Probably DIY but may have problems if the weather is warm in December.
This is how peta will try to make vegers out of us meat eaters.
The meat prices haven't even began to catch up to other stuff.
In the early 70's seven good 500# steer calves sold for enough to buy a new 3/4 ton 4WD pickup. That doesn't even buy the accessory package today.
Driving a $50-70K vehicle to the store and complaining about food prices is UNACCEPTABLE.
25 bucks for a "family pack" of fatty 75\25 hamburger meat that cost 10 dollars two months ago is UNACCEPTABLE in my book. 😒
