Where I was bear hunting I snapped a photo of this table rock where a brand inspector/exMarshal had a gunfight, on horseback, with a local gentleman, both men died. Lots of history in this canyon.
My ‘hole in the wall’ bear stand !!!

That was an interesting read.
Thanks for posting.
Mule
Thanks for posting this. It must of been a big crane that put that flat rock up there like that…..
See any bear? It doesn’t look like bear country more like mountain lion.
Is it weird to say, I enjoy those kinds of stories?? Thanx for posting
Thanks for the read.
The ol’ timers tell the story of Ben Lowe jumping his horse, from above, onto that rock.
Yes, I saw two bears but they were small/medium size. If I’m going to take one it’s gonna be the size of a Volkswagen,,,,,,🤣
And yes, there’s lots of lion on this ranch.
Cool post
So ..... how exactly do you get into that stand?

Wonder if Ben Lowe was the guy that inspired that fictional character "Pecos Bill" 🙂
I always enjoy going to places that have such interesting history's! Thank you Forge for this fascinating post!
It’s real easy when you’ve got a bear nipping at your butt ,,,,,,,,,, 🤣
Bullshot,,,,,,,,I should have included a ‘smiley’ face with that post.
good read, thanks.
Well, a bear on your butt would be a powerful incentive. 😉

Neat.
Those old timers didn't mess around.
May I suggest Sampson should have been packing a 1911 and if so would have lived to tell the tale.
