Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Partially.
I am old enough to remember when that photo caused quite a stir. I seem to recall it was a S. Vietnamese general executing a member of a Viet Cong death squad that had been captured. I think the squad had been targeting government officials and their families. Kind of a fighting fire with fire execution. Bob
that seems to be about right
dude was viet cong. photo won a pulitzer.
I knew he was an enemy soldier captured out of uniform but can't remember the details.
South Vietnamese Gen. Nguyen Ngoc Loan, chief of the national police, shoots Vietcong officer Nguyen Van Lem, also known as Bay Lop, on a Saigon street on Feb. 1, 1968.
After Nguyen Ngoc Loan raised his sidearm and shot Vietcong operative Nguyen Van Lem in the head he walked over to the reporters and told them that: “These guys kill a lot of our people, and I think Buddha will forgive me”. Captured on NBC TV cameras and by AP photographer Eddie Adams, the picture and film footage flashed around the world and quickly became a symbol of the Vietnam War’s brutality.
Thanks for the confirmation. It is good to know that my memory is still working o.k.
Now if I could just remember what I had for breakfast. Bob
IIRC, the man being executed and the executioner knew each other and the executee had just murdered the executioner's family.

DCVA now, I just read he retired and died later. Here is the before picture.
And another
I like the Grease Gun.
I cannot believe Adams the guy who took the photo hung around. I have been in similar situations when the locals get stabby and I un-* the AO.
I remember that photo very well. I remember seeing a video of it back in the day also.

i remember seeing the vidieo as he fired and the blood spurting out
Smith & Wesson 49, nickel finish, nice piece.
And yes, remember it well.
That one and the little naked girl running down the road fired up the anti-war movement.
I remember Dad saying when on TV.. too bad it wasn't hanoi Jane
She was severely burned, if I remember right it was from napalm. I think she was brought over here for treatment of her burns,
Joe
The little girl defected to Canada when she was a college student I believe she was treated in Vietnam she was studying to be a Doctor in Cuba and on a flight to Moscow the plane landed in Newfoundland when she took the opportunity to defect.
I also remember the video and the blood litterly spurting out of the guys head. I was an air force medic back then and remember it vividly.
I remember it being on the TV news and every news magazine and news paper as I would guess any one at least our age has seen it . and countless more times its been replayed over the years
Remember it well . Most of the so called civilized world condemned the shooter. Those who knew the brutality of the vietcong , did not object .
