So I got the burning yearning for a 5.7x28. What is your current burning yearning??
Most of us GB folk suffer from Gunitis. This is a not an uncommon ailment. The simple fact is there is no cure to Gunitis. Fortunately, Gunitis can be put into remission with the purchase of a new gun.
My Gunitis is starting to act up. I'm just starting to get a little twitchy. Nothing real bad at the moment but I'm guessing in a few months I'll be REAL twitchy!!
My current hot button is, as I said, a 5.7x28. Why?? I don't know. I think I am going to have to have a talk with Santa's Elves to avert another seriously boring Christmas present.
Coming from a man who has spent a lot of time shooting a 45-70 I hate to admit it but I really get all hot and lathered over the concept of a light bullet smoking down the range at very fast velocities.
So what is your current hot button??

I caught the same bug and recently bought two 5.7's! I'm really liking the Ruger. Waiting on a red dot mount for it. Ammo is stupid expensive (Buck a round) and hard to come by right now. Ordered some dies to help with that.
Another Dan Wesson 1911. After the last one I bought, I can't wait to get another one.
A400 xplor 12g. I've given up on a special field in 20g. You see,the most important part is the price. It makes the hunt. I have the money but my principles won't let me pay what I think is too much.
The 5.7 is really a cool round. It is also super accurate. When Ruger introduced their 57 at half the price of the FN, sales soared and in stock ammo disappeared. Ammo was also reasonably priced,
Expect to pay over a buck a round for ammo today and be lucky to have any. Coincidently and because of the ammo situation, the prices for anything that shoots 5.7 have dropped. LGS was selling the Rugers for $599 and had zero ammo. People here will not buy a gun they cant buy ammo for.
Have been reloading this little gem for several years now. There were many lessons learned when I started and back then, there was little or no data.
Had to have .005" milled from the bottom of my size die because the rounds would not chamber. Just about every case will need trimming and COLs are strict. Also crimping is paramount, but once all the bugs were out, I now make super accurate and reliable ammo.
I was looking at/for a 5.7x28 about the time prices skyrocketed. Not buying ANY gun for which I don't already have a good supply of ammo.
The only thing on my radar right now is a HOWA mini-bolt in 6.5 Grendel(must have threaded muzzle).
They should make a nice little rifle in that caliber.
I have heard they are a bear to reload for too.
My brother got his son the CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel fun little gun to shoot
Biggest thing on my wish list is a Thermal Scope just not willing to pay the price for a decent one yet
10mm 2011.
I have one its a 22 Hornet witch I had re-chambered to K hornet. It is one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I really like the single set trigger. One in 5.7x28 would be kind of cool.

Interesting round
Remington Ultimate Muzzle-loader
just have not pulled the trigger
but my finger is itching
I'm shocked at the drop in the prices of the Ruger model 57. A while back I couldn't find anything on the auction side under $700+. I just looked and several buy it now sales were under $600. Guess I need to look at all the auctions!!
Browning hi power and a Weatherby Vanguard VGS with the Southgate address in 30-06 wearing a Burris fullfield scope
Why? 5.7? What are you hoping to do with it?
Sounds like a seriously fun toy!! Low recoil, little bullets going fast. What's not to like?? Home defense?? Why not?? 20 rounds, easily controlled, HP bullets doing 1,600 FPS would make for major tissue damage.
But mostly it sounds like fun!!
My buddy has a CMMG Banshee in 5.7…..it is a great little set up. Very accurate, low recoil.
I have the itch for a Sig 365 XL with the Sig red dot optic. I shot one at the range my last trip and I was surprised at how well it shot…
I worked it out for you....buy my ammo and then you have the excuse to buy a revolver to shoot it !!!! 😉

I cant think of anything I want right now.The older I get,the harder I am to impress.
Before the boating accident, I had ample firearms to last my days and sufficiently arm all the Grandkids.
What is on my drool list now is a Swarovski BTX spotting scope system.
I was exposed to one while assisting on a Bighorn sheep hunt this fall and have the bug bad. Now just to decide which mule or horse to sell to fund it.
Mule
M1 Carbine or really off the deep end something in the dangerous game range.
Never know when a nocerous might show up.😲
New caliber, more ammo to purchase.I have found 40 S&W being the cheapest hard hitting round for the money now. Sure 9mm is cheaper but not by much now. I like the 10mm but only in a hunting configuration,

Got my red dot on! Resting off the mirror of my truck my best three shot group was a little over an inch @ 40 yards. Not too bad considering the dot is 6 moa.
Waiting on the Genesis Arms Gen-12 AR10 shotgun upper to top my generic AR10 lower. My low budget Benelli M4 that can swap uppers to shoot .308s.
I thought about building a Proof Research Carbon light weight AR10. I helped barrel a friend do this but spending a grand for the Carbon barrel was just a little much. The thought of 8 pound AR10 sounds cool if one is to hump them thar hills but I don't know if the sore shoulder is worth it. I'll see how his AR10 feels.
