Shipping USPS is going to kill us

Shipping USPS is going to kill us. Had a customer complain that 50.00 was too much to ship a long gun across the united states. Explained to him that box an packing along with insurance an adult signature are not free. Plus the fact that most times its only a few dollars difference between ground an priority mail. Now dont get me wrong I would use UPS or Fedx if they were closer. But both are a hour drive to there hubs were firearms must go. Will found out today that USPS raised there rates Monday. To ship a 8 pound firearm to UT it cost me 75.35 today. Had to eat that one. How due I explain that to a customer. Even flat rate boxes went up so now got to change auction for small items. What a beautiful world we live in. Thanks for listing guys.

I’m sorry, Mike, but local gun shops are looking better and better.

We have paid USPS over $1500 just since October 1st. That isn't including the Fed Ex and UPS costs we have paid. I don't know where we stand as far as shipping costs go, but we've tried our best to get the price down as much as possible. I allow people to send me shipping labels on anything but guns if they think they can ship something cheaper....we have private insurance and only insure things for $501 so we get the free signature conformation. Its not easy, but if you beat yourself up enough you can save a little here and there. I'm about to have to order my long gun shipping boxes.....a yearly thing that really puts a hurt on my bank account!

Yes i agree about gas going up making cost go up. just could not wrap my mind around the jump in price. Yes cost of boxes is crazy. I reuse alot of min e plus make alot of out card board sheets. An you have to watch what you use for packing material as it adds weight. Been using alot of broken zipper gun cases as padding just tape them closed. Will have to offer the send your own label for small items. Thats a good idea.

    Marketing Mail:

    Commercial Letters:

If you are a commercial mailer sending half-sheet postcards, you will want to consider using Presorted First Class instead of Marketing Mail for those cards. USPS will allow cards up to 6" x 9" to qualify for the Presorted First Class postcard price, which is just pennies more than commercial Marketing Mail, and you'll get faster service.

    Nonprofit Letters:

Compare to first class rates. Taxpayers/first class rate payers subsidize junk mail that uses huge amounts of paper during a paper/wood shortage to spam people and fill their trash cans.
