If this is a simple in-line spark tester it may be making a better connection to the plug wire than the sparkplug is. Check the clip in the wire boot to make sure it connects properly to the plug. Bob
Weak magneto? Tester increases resistance ???
Been too long since my electricity classes 🙄
Check/clean connections inside case where magneto is.
+ another for bob's reply
since the coil and sparkplug wire are usually an assembly that is what i would replace.
you would b suprised how inexpensive small engine parts are on the internet. i dont even bother with trying to fix or rebuild most parts, just order a new one. most small engine carburators are less than $20.00 and come with new fuel lines, one or two fuel filters, several fuel bulbs, air filter and a spark plug.
i have ordered and installed at least 50 carburators in the past couple of years and probably 95% have worked perfectly and the ones that didnt were replaced in less than a week. i just replaced a carb on a yamaha 125 dirt bike. the Mikuni original was nearly $300.00 the chinese knockoff i bought was $30.00 and leaked gas. notified the seller and in less than a week they sent me another one that worked perfectly. I'm not a big fan of chinese purchases but i have discovered that even if i buy a U.S. branded part it is still made in China.
Yes
Check your grounds. The spark plug tester is creating one for you.
You have a ground problem. See it all the time.
thanks for all the info.
appreciate it
