hello, have a rem. 700 bdl and need to find the dom. barrel code is EP and 59 after that?. ser# is E6883057 . any help would be great, red

remingtons are kind of hard to date. usually first letter is the month with E being Oct. second letter is the year but letters were used more than once. P could be 1923, 1967, or 1995.
model 700 wasn't introduced till 1962, so throw out 1923, early 700 triggers had three screws for their adjustment, the sear, the release pressure, and slack take up. I think by 95 they came from factory with only two adjustments. pull the action out of the stock and look at the number of adjustment screws in the trigger assembly and remember the guard screws are tightened to 30 to 40 inch lbs. for a wooden non-bedded stock.
