are pictures stored in A hard drive?
Comments
Yes, if you store them there.
thanks i got ripped of from a computer fix it shop and i am going to ask for my hard drive and they can keep the piece of junk
It will doubtless be cheaper to just buy a new Dell or something mid grade than to pay and have the old one restored.
You can take the new PC and the old hard drive someplace and they'll be able to pull the photos off for you. It's not hard.
If you get the HD from the old one you can get a USB cable adapter to connect to the old drive for probably 20 bucks or less and access the HD from a newer computer that has a USB port.
i took an old computer to ---------- computer in south Cumberland Md. i believe a windows 8.
when i dropped it off to them , i made it CLEAR that i didn't to spend much money on it . give me a call with an estimate BEFORE YOU DO ANY WORK. if nothing else just pull my pictures. HE AGREED
3 weeks later i stopped in and asked about my computer. different guy said yep here it is . i said that is not mine. he said it is now. we took parts from yours and put them in an old unit we had.
i ask how much. was told good to go bill would be in the mail
well it was a piece of junk. i couldn't down load any pictures and if i wanted to change programs i had to wait 5 minutes or shut the thing down and start over again . i could go on with problems.
just got the bill today .
labor $95.
moved date to refurbished computer ( guess they meant DATA) $299.
tax $17.49
that is half the price of a BRAND NEW COMPUTER
just beware of these people . this is the second attempt that has happened
they are getting it back tomorrow and they can keep it
thanks all
If you do that, you've lost all your data. You should be able to move all your photos, documents, bookmarks, music, etc to some removable storage media like thumb drives. That's really all they did.
Do all that today before you tell them where they can stick their machine and the bill. (What they did was probably illegal. You might mention that.)
i can get this far, but i can't open any of the files. they are zipped shut. how do i open them?
I regret that I cannot help you any further via these threads. You'll need somebody there with you to explain all this.
ok thanks
any one tried windows 11?
good - bad ?
There used to be a program called UNZIP, that would open zipped files. I don't know if it is still available anymore.
Joe
Yes. It's meh.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
google how to unzip files and download a program. Good luck
Winzip, pkzip gzip. tar and others, but you probably have something built-in. Have you tried right mouse clicking on a zipped folder and see if you have an option like "extract", "unzip" etc.?
