Scored two whitetail late this afternoon......PIC
I hunted pretty hard the last 5 days and saw a ton of does and yearlings.....some small bucks but nothing legal So about 445 this evening, a nice BB came out ( I thought it was a doe) and gave me a shot at 110 yards or so. One shot took care of this one....As I was walking out to get it, there were 7-8 more down the hill at about 200 yards. I would have just let it go, but one was a little hobbled by a recent tear in it's leg...likely from going over a fence. It seemed to be in pain so I went ahead and put it down....Stepped off at 204 yards....
With all the talk of meat and food shortages, I figured I would get some freezer meat squared away.....I still have some landowner permits to used but this old buzzard is tired....So will likely go out next season....

A genuine act of compassion from a real hunter. Unlike humans, animals don't understand why they can't run and jump like they should, nor can the seek medical treatment. An easy exit verses continued suffering leading to a painful death makes this way out the obvious choice.
Congratulations. What caliber and bullet did you use?

Thanks Mark.....I just can't let a wounded animal suffer.
Nice job. Congrats. Enjoy.
Remington Core-Lokt’s are hard to beat. I’ve been trying for 30 years.
Congratulations!!
Yearlings are the best table fare. BB are just as good as yearling does but are bigger. When I want tender freezer meat that's what I'm looking for.
Good for you Frank!
Well done. Sounds like you'll have some good eatin' for a few days. :)
I echo Mark Christian's sentiments too. Very nice to see you do that.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Good job Frank...

now the REAL work begins........
Great day
Nice! That's 2 that won't get hit by cars. I hit 3 in October; one I hit 1/4 mile south of the farm did $3000 damage to my Mercury. About half of what the car is worth. Luckily I have a donor car and I can swap front ends.
Wow...three in a month. That is a bad run of luck....
