970# on the hoof weight total, need a few more for the Summer Sausage, meat sticks, jerky, etc.

970#? Took me a second to figure out that was a total for the harvest so far. Gonna be some good eating this winter. No chemicals, steroids and little fat adds up to a healthy bunch of meat. Bob
So much for his career playing the letter "Y" for the Village People.
Is he gonna be ok??
On a side note that is a fantastic gambrel you have him hanging on!
Yeah, I made many of the gambrels, all forge welded at the anvil. It’s 5/8” round stock to hold steers when butchering.
That is bada$$. How much to make one of those????
Never charged for one. They justify my existence and will be a token of my time on this earth.
Only fellow I know that could take a railroad spike or a large ring shank nail and turn it into a functional work of art if he so desired.
Mule
Looks bigger than 5/8 round stock
Let me ask the ‘Smith’ that forged it ,,,,,,,,,, Oh, wait. I forged’em, yep it’s 5/8” ,,,,,,,,, 😉
Well you know the first thing that goes is your memory. Or did you forget that?😁
Seriously, it is kind of an optical illusion with the wraps/coils making the arms look bigger than 5/8". A tip of my hat to you for being able to create some of your projects. Bob
I see they field dress without splitting the pelvis. My cousin did it that way. I usually split it but if I don't have what I need with me I do his way.
