Surgery Tomorrow
I've been having unpleasant urinary symptoms for some time. Prostate is fine, but I'm having symptoms like I have a bad prostate. A few months ago, I passed three pretty large stones. Hmmm.
Symptoms slowly got worse and worse, and I finally had my urologist to use the scope and take a look. I have a number of stones blocking the exit from bladder to urethra. He pulled three out in his office with a little grabbing tool, but he said there are enough of them that we really need to remove them in the OR. I agreed. What he did in the office was doable but very unpleasant. I figure this procedure will be a lot more fun when I'm asleep.
Hold a happy thought or say a prayer for me, if you will. This will be a fairly quick procedure and I'll come home the same day, but it requires general anesthesia, which I don't much care for.
Several years ago, another urologist, while checking the bladder for the return of a suspicious tumor (it did not return) told me he found a large stone adhering to the bladder wall. I asked him to go ahead and remove it, but he declined, saying it might remain where it is from now on with no problem. Well, apparently, it turned loose and broke up into chunks, and now we have to remove it. Good times.

Stones ain't no fun and I speak from experience. Passed a couple and the day before they were going to go in after another, I passed the last one. Had to take it in to the urologists office so they could check to see what type it was. This was a big office with several doctors and their staffs. I sat there for 15 minutes while they all passed around the little bottle I had the stone in and all exclaimed that they had never seen anyone pass one that big. The Doc finally took me back and asked how I was feeling and told me it must of felt like I had passed a bowling ball. I told him yes but it felt like the ball had spikes. So I didn't need the surgery but he said it would have been painless compared to what I went through. You have both my sympathies and prayers for a successful trip to the OR. Best of luck. Bob
Nothing here except positive thoughts. David, I'm sure you will come through this just fine.
Prayers said.
Good luck David. General is the way to go for that work. Hoping they get it all and you have a good nap!
Prayers for you David from another David . Only this one is currently laying in a hospital bed recuperating from knee replacement today .Never had stones but know several that do and have seen how painful they are
Of course, we'll offer prayers for you from here Mr. Nunn.
I don't know how much "fun" this will be....even if you are asleep, but best wishes sent your way.
Best of God's care your way.
"Stones " are very painful, fentanyl is your friend.
Been there done that a few times
You are in my morning prayers today Mr. Nunn.
hope the best for you
never any fun been there done that
Good luck, sir. It's not pleasant when they go messing around down there. I had prostatectomy back in July. If they recommend pelvic floor therapy, by all means, do it.
Prayers from here, Mr. Nunn.
Prayers for a very successful surgery and a painless recovery. I know we like to say everything is bigger in Texas, but Mr. Nunn you don't always have to be a true Texan...
Prayers sent and wishes for a pain free, speedy recovery!!
Prayers from this side of the fence Mr. Nunn
Prayers sent Nunn
I passed several small stones years ago, and that was unpleasant. I can't imagine passing large ones. Just thinking about it gives me the willies.
Good luck David. I hope everything goes well.
Joe
Good luck

Prayers sent.
Prayers and happy birthday David. I will try to call you afterward.
Good luck on your surgery! I am sure you'll be fine.
I have never had any but I read somewhere that passing them is the most painful process the human body can have. Worse than a woman's childbirth even!
Prayers for a great outcome, and quick recovery, Mr. Nunn
I'm home now. Surgery went well, but I'm sore and feeling kinda punky.
I hope everything comes out alright.
Best of luck to you David.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon
good your home just take it easy for a day or two...
A couple of days and you will be back to your normal cantankerous ornery self. Kick back and take it easy. Bob
Dave, It is not unpleasant to have that done in an office, it is unbearable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I screamed and almost tore off the bed railing. Never, NEVER AGAIN, unless I'm asleep or dead. I got scoped three times when I had prostate cancer. He want to do some minor surgery when I was awake. The look on my face told him to go &$%& himself. I will be praying for you. Oakie
Hope this gets you straightened out.
Been there. I had a wire or spring placed during surgery, kept for about 3 weeks and had it removed in the Dr. office. Fun times.
I find the catheter annoying. Move it just a little, the wrong way, and OUCH!
Gonna call the doc tomorrow and run it by him.
Glad to hear you’re up and able to post!
Prayers for your continued recovery..
Thanks!
I guarantee it was A LOT more fun having multiple stones blasted and sucked out, while peacefully asleep, that it was in the doctor's office, wide awake and having them dragged out with a grabby tool. Had those three been all, that would have been fine, but the doc saw the size and number of what remained, and said we should continue the procedure in the OR, and I agreed.
Glad to hear you are at home, where Dawnie can pamper you......right?
Hard to be happy about anything but a positive outcome and I'll pray that you get that.
Nunn... Glad you're good to go.
