Drone suggestions

I'm thinking of getting a camera drone for my son, he's 15. I not up to speed on these. So does anyone have a suggestion of an affordable, for quality, drone that he could get some use and experience with?
I'm lost as to starting point prices for a usable machine or what brand etc. to consider.
Any help appreciated.

I've got the DJI Mavic 3. If i can find time I'll run it up and post some video from it later today. Affordable is subjective.
It's the only one I've had, so I have no experience with others.
Found some photos my son took with it on his vacation two weeks ago. I'll still try to get a video this evening.
I looked that one up. I was aware affordable was subjective. I'll reset my request. Back yard, functional, fun for a teen that will last long enough to get some use out of it. I was thinking less than two bills. Could be there isn't one for that I'll need to scrape the idea for now.
WOW! cool pictures, thanks for posting them.
My son says this is about your best bet with quality and value. His suggestion was to stay with DJI.

I have seen a couple guys run them. I would want one with a infrared camera for checking my perimeter in the dark. Set my corners as waypoints and have it run the perimeter any time of day or night and show me what is out there.
I don't know enough to know if one with its own controller is better than one controlled by the smart phone.
Amazing technology for sure.
My son has a dji Air 2 s . Middle to top end drone . 1 mile range and excellent video . Your son will quickly become bored with the cheap 100 dollar stuff .
I have a dji Mavic Mini. Around 600 bucks. Works well with an iPhone.
Check c-list. I see a few of them there.
You could probably Macgyver something up with a styrofoam cup and kite string.😁
I appreciate the help. Options seem limited in my expected price range.
According to CNET , the Ryze tello drone ,is the highest rated beginner drone . Availible on amazon for around $100 for the basic package ,upgrade for $150.00.The upgrade gets you extra batteries in order to fly longer etc .
I looked up DJI drones found that one and am considering it. Just something to get started with and hopefully get some use time out of it.
He has a Galaxy J7 phone. I do not know if it will work as I've never fooled with this stuff before. If I get this one it seems I also need to get a controller for an additional $70.
I found some with their own controller and camera viewing screen. Look up "drone no phone needed".
His phone does not have blue tooth so I do not think the controller will work with it.
Edit: Yes it does. That makes things easier,
If I buy the above drone with the controller and maintenance pack he should be good to go.
Anyone have thought on that? Am I over looking something?
Total with case, controller, extra batteries, rotors etc. about $250 + tax, if anyone is interesting in knowing.
Stay wit dji .... good stuff... I can fly miles from my house ...they gave a return home setting...u can get insurance in case your 500 dollar toy don't come home ..lol
My suggestion is to become a country hostile to the US. Let the US invade and then they will leave a few as they exit.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
