They can be difficult to get a good pic of them... Once they become aware of you they are gone. This one was in our hayfield about 30 yards from our back door. It was working over something which allowed me to get out the back door behind a tree before it took off. It was back a couple more times during the day.
Fun to watch but I told Martha to watch her back !

Great pic. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely Beautiful
Great photo!
Out for a drive last Saturday, saw two eagles working a road kill, one was a baldie and the other was either a young baldie or Golden version, no white visible. Neighbor saw them the next day. They are very rare around here but sightings are increasing.
I did see one circling the yard the other day, he was looking at my Yorkie for a quick snack but that won't ever happen as he is always on a short leash while outside.
This in near the northern WNC and East Tn state line.
"Short leash" you say??
Good un!
Look out Martha, he has the Eagle Eye.--------Ray
We have many in our area. Majestic birds to say the least.
I am seeing more around here in Southern Missouri. When I was growing up I don't recall seeing one. Now, I see about one a week.
There were many of them in Northern Illinois where we lived before retiring here in MO... We are 6 miles as the crow flies from the Missouri River and they started showing up around here about 10 or so years ago. I see them quite often now and enjoy watching them in the conservation areas and flying around our place.
Nice photo and thanks for posting it
we have been seeing more Eagles over the last few years some what close by , Its good to see them making a come back .
there is a 65 acre park about 40 miles from us in Dayton Oh ( Carillon ) they have a camera set up each year you can watch the eagles the park is also a nice place to vist if your going by the area
That was an interesting website, thanks for sharing it..
We have a pair that nests in the woods behind my house. See them frequently.
The nearest nest I have located is a couple properties over from our place. I can see it with a spotting scope this time of year. I have permission to get closer, but try to not bother them..
Yes, I would say watch out Martha.
Our neighbor lost a good amount of his chickens just to Hawks that have nested nearby so I would expect an Eagle could easily make off with a cat.
+1 ^ I lost a chicken to a hawk last week, but the hawk didn't get to enjoy his meal, I ran him off just after the kill, took the chicken away from the coop and let the buzzards have it. The hawk was lucky I wasn't carrying else he would have missed more than just the meal... But cool Pic Frank.
Ruger4me, best to use the SSS method.
Rabbit sheriffs could be lurking.
Thanks for posting the picture of your eagle. Like you, I love to watch them. I live in Alaska now and last year we had a pair nest beside our house. We also see bears more often than I like. I always look both ways before stepping outside.
i've lost downed ducks to eagles when i hunted Rend Lake Illinois sub-impoundments
Great PICS, thanks for sharing !!!
Disappearing critter trick
Looks like that's where one landed. Cool pic.
Hawks kill more game animals I believe than coyotes. What good are they?none that I can see. Eagles are are national symbol so they get a round trip ticket. But when you stop seeing rabbits, squirrels and other game animals around they won’t be so welcome. Hopefully it will leave the area.
Have several red tailed hawks around here most all year round.
They set perched in a big oak, one facing east and the other west, not much get by them in the food court
You aught to see them when I am bush hogging in the fall. They have a feast and will often take a critter within a few feet of the mower. I think the will kill their prey and stash it in a tree because the will come back for more pretty fast, at least while the food is on the run.
