A major shake-up is coming to the way US citizens file their taxes
Citizens that file their taxes online tax will soon be required to submit a selfie to a third-party identity verification company using * recognition tech in order to file their taxes or make IRS payments online.
According to Gizmodo, from this summer, online users with an IRS.gov account will no longer be able to log in with a simple username and password.

Well it wont be long before the cops scan your eye for instant confirmations without need of a DNA profile for I.D. Your eye can reveal a lot of other things about you internally also.

Every article I have read about this says signing up for * recognition for simple filing and paying taxes will not be necessary.
This is a security measure for signing up to their site for stuff I don't need so for now it has no effect on me. If it becomes mandatory for simple tax filing in the future, I will change back to paper forms and snail mail before I give my I.D. to a third party that might get hacked. Bob
A lot of us who are self employed use the system to make sure that we are getting correct credit for quarterly payments we make. We have to check because the IRS makes so many mistakes.
Already is not working. Spoke to a friend the other day who tried the new system. They compare your DL picture to your Selfie. Except she grew her hair longer than what was on her DL and the system would not verify her identity because it said picture don't match.

Just like the new IRS rule on 1099's that aggregate over 600 dollar is now taxable. So any amount paid that in the system reaches that threshold, then you can be audit for it.You better prove it was just a gift or lunch money from the wife's account!😁

Don't confuse the rules about reporting of transactions from what is taxable income. The $600 may have always been taxable income unless it was exempted by the law.
Here is the legal description:
26 U.S. Code § 61 - Gross income defined
(a)General definition
Except as otherwise provided in this subtitle, gross income means all income from whatever source derived.
If you were not issued a 1099 by a business exchange (600+) then I doubt not many would file it with The IRS in the past but the way I see it now if you generate income in small amounts electronically by different sources, and it adds up to over 600 dollars then The IRS will know it. But then I may be mistaken.
One day in a cashless society then all point of sale taxes will be taken out from the buyer but all profits amounts to the seller will be transferred to The IRS to copy it to the entity that receives it and will be recorded for future taxation.
