Some of you might remember Todd Orr. Here he recounts his attack. Stay safe out there friends.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Good God!
Lucky to be alive.
Up until last April I thought these kind of stories were great entertainment. Now, when it is known that grizzly wander through my pasture once in a blue moon, they seem much more educational.
It was that picture of a Salmon on the back of his coat...
That pistol would have been in operation had I been in his boots.
WOW
To begin with, he had the choice of a pistol or pepper spray. Looks like he should have started off with the pistol.
Todd Orr got chewed on in the Madison range and was very remarkable how he held his composure. Since his encounter, I don’t think anyone has been chewed on on the East side of the valley , but there has been a couple attacks on the West of the river in the Gravelly mountains.
lotsa bears East and North of me, I only saw one this fall while Sheep hunting in the Gros Ventre at ~100 yards and he was traveling and paid me and the mules no mind.
A local guy I know. He got chewed on in 2015.
he ended up with bear hair on his front sight, so I believe he got some lead in her.

Let me tell you from personal experience there is nothing more horrific than a polar bear attack. It happened to me, and I still carry the scars. When a brown bear attacks he knocks you flat and might take a bite or two, he just wants to make sure you're not a threat. A black bear and a polar bear will hunt you for sport, and once a polar bear starts an attack, nothing will make him stop. Nothing.
I have photos of the attack, but man are they graphic. I'm not sure if I should post them, but they just might help you defend yourself. So sit down, take a deep breath, and think twice before you scroll down. You won't be able to un-see this.

Too funny, NANUQ! I had a similar incident with a Snow Leopard but have no pictures.☹️
My gosh, absolute amazing he survived.
Nook thank goodness you had on high top shoes.
And glad some of us had on high top boots after that story.
You got me! I didn't know if I wanted to scroll.
OK- that gentleman is a real tough guy. Dang!
Next time I have a special occasion to give a good gift I’ll definitely consider one of his knives.
Darn Nanuq! That ferocious BEAR went straight for the Achillies tendon! 😲
Just glad you survived something that one of the greatest Greek hero's succumbed to! 😁
There's one fella I'd be very interested in sharing a bottle with. Thanx for posting.
+1...

That's quite a MAN!
Nanuq, you'd better hope you don't run into that monster again. Once they get the taste of human flesh, well...

Some time back I studied up a little on bears and bear attacks as I was going to travel to Glacier and Yellowstone national parks and surrounding areas. I read about this guy.
...Geez-us! A VERY lucky man, just wasnt his time...Angel on his shoulder...
...I only had a bear come into camp one time, but wasnt worried, I was safe, in a tent...he finally left...
...Camping in a National Park in western Co. and all he** broke loose about midnight...some idiot had put a package of Bacon in the FOOT of his sleeping bag 😁 bear grabbed the foot of his sleeping bag and was dragging him across the camp ground...he finally got out Ok, bear just wanted the bacon...takes all kinds, I guess...
...I had a Mountain Lion circle camp one night out in Big Bend country, sometimes he would just sit and look my way, caught him in my light once, mostly just saw his eyes reflecting back...not real big on critters that can eat me...when camping always slept with a 44 mag next to me, so if one came in the tent, if that didnt work Im pretty sure when I poop on him he'd let me go...
I took this in Glacier a couple years back
