At least I think that's what it is.

Chupacabra?
A month or so ago, when I first saw it, it still had about 30-40% of it's fur. Pretty sure it's a coyote.
We had a similar one around here a couple years ago... The neighbor shot the poor thing , it was pretty sad looking. Mange or some parasite issue.
Put it down, or call game warden to do it.
It's in downtown Arlington, TX. Arlington animal control told me they don't deal with urban wildlife.
I would shoot it myself if I was sure I could get away with it, but Arlington PD takes a dim view of discharging firearms within city limits, and it's on the front lawn of my company's admin building.
The thing needs to be dispatched. It's the humane thing to do, but I'm not willing to get fired and/or arrested for it.
Hmm. Oh well. What ever diesise it has, probably distemper, maybe, hopefully it spreads it to a lot of others.
Understood,agree. It's a shame.
That was my thought.
Easier to get forgiveness than permission.
Agree, plead your case in court with documentation. Sometimes, doing the wrong thing, is, the right thing to do.
sad to see any animal suffer no matter what kind there just doing what nature programed them to do
and sad no one ( wild life officer , LEO or even animal control ) will step up and take responsibility to dispatch it
Ran into the same situation years ago. Got the runaround from all depts. Finally police officer on duty overheard all the BS.
He came over and shot the coyote from my back deck. He took it to the local vet the vet said that it was mange that the coyote had.
You are in Arlington? How much ice did you get?
Just shoot it already
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
The local game warden has the authority and SHOULD help the poor thing die already. Could be a danger to small kids, looks to be starving too and that makes em a LOT bolder!
Shoot it and lay low.
.22 lr should do the trick.
SSS might even be best.

Call the county dept of health and claim it to be a threat to the health of your family and neighbors and their pets and livestock. Be * about it.
I shot a coyote on a Sunday morning just outside a residential neighborhood. It was standing broadside in a utility easement, so I had a clear shot. No one said I may or may not, but coyotes had been eating foo foo dogs in that neighborhood, so I figured killing one might be a good thing. No one complained, anyway.
Here was one after getting off a lake a few years ago. I probably had a pistol but didnt think to do it in. houses around anyways
I dont know what the life span of a coyote is but I would think it would be pretty short with mange, heartworms, distemper and all the canine diseases. They probably have a rough life.
I was driving through a neighborhood in Atlanta one sunny Saturday afternoon. There in the front yard of a house stood a 17 year old kid holding a garden rake. His 55 year old dad stood nearby. And there in the yard was a big raccoon, sitting on his butt and gazing at the sky. I knew that animal was real sick with rabies or distemper, you never see them in the daytime. The dad told me that they had called 911. I wanted to draw the .38 and shoot that animal, as I have done more than once at my place in the country. But it is all kinds of illegal to shoot a firearm there in Atlanta. Looked like the guys had the situation under control, so I drove off.
Old adage: hearing 1 "bang" brings no attention.

^^^While all of the above are both logical and humane, I've not seen any of these things actually happen. Bunny cops are only interested if YOU do the deed and it's not kosher. I got a stern warning once upon a time from a very strict game warden regarding my so called "illegal taking of a snapping turtle" ( I shot the darned thing after it had killed an entire hatch of ducklings).
His exact words "Mother Nature makes baby ducks and Mother Nature makes snapping turtles and we're not supposed to intervene in nature's actions". I replied "That a fine attitude UNLESS YOU'RE A BABY DUCK". He reiterated that shooting turtles was illegal and walked away.
