i bought a used browning gold last year and finally got it out to disassemble and clean. on the numrich schematic for this gun they show a forearm spacer, looks like a normal "O" ring to me. mine does not have one. looked at several */dis videos and they did not mention or show this part. being a believer that manufacturers do not make things with unnecessary parts i would like to know if any of you have one of these shotguns or any experience with one. even if i had one i dont see where it would fit inside the forearm.

I think that originally they did not come with that spacer/O-ring. I don't have a gold anymore but I still have a superx2 which is basically the same gun. I don't remember that O-ring on the gold and don't have it on the Winchester. Both guns had some flex in the forend and maybe this was a later change to address that. Perhaps give Browning a call and they can give a definite answer. Bob
Is it part number 54 in the MGW diagram?

well i found it. it is inside the metal piece in the front of the forearm. at the same time i discovered my forearm is cracked on the inside longitudinally over where this metal part fits. looks like someone tried to glue the metal to the forearm and the glue expanded and cracked the wood. contacted browning and tried to order a black plastic stock set but was told i would also have to change out the recoil spring tube assy. he did find me a wood replacement so i ordered it. you really have to be careful buying used firearms anymore people will try and slip things by you. thanks for the help.
Too bad you didn't get an extra bag of parts with it....🤣
There must be more differences between the Super X2 and the Gold than I remember. I just pulled my Super X2 out of the safe to double check and still no O-ring. The insert at the front of the forend on mine is plastic and the stock is split between it and the barrel. It is about a 1/4" wide split and came that way from the factory. probably done that way to give a tight friction fit to the insert that goes over the mag tube. Spread it, place insert, release and the wood contracts holding the part in. Bob
Bob thats the way mine is split but i dont think that is the way it is suppose to b. when i get the new one from browning i will let you know.
When I was selling guns I picked mine out of a batch of 4 or 5 that came in and they all had that split. I don't really remember on the Gold because it was many shotguns ago. I do know a lot of the parts were interchangeable between the X2 and the Gold. I will be interested about how your new forend looks. Bob
