Get the snacks out, I'll bring the beer, and we can sit back and watch this one. I wonder how much the sellers feedback will impact it.

That's about the same vintage as mine, but I don't have the box or paperwork.😞

5 out of the last 45 feedbacks have been negative so if any of the bidders bother to check it might have a big effect. Then again if it slows them down the gun might turn out to be a bargain. Hmmm... About an 11% chance that you might be a victim and an 89% chance it will turn out good. Decisions, decisions... Bob

When I originally posted this, I just wanted to let you know, but didn't go thru the pics that well. If you notice, almost all of the pics are of the wood, which is about average for the S/A's, but nothing outstanding IMO. However, there aren't any pics of the barrel, or muzzle, to speak of. Look at pic 21, sure looks like there is a bit of rust on the top of the barrel about 2" from the end on top. I sent the seller a question, let's see what they say..

Good catch. I looked through the pics on my tablet and didn't see that. On my desktop with the bigger monitor it sure looks like there is something there. Also the screws on the front sling stud look to be discolored but it could be just a bad pic. Bob

Pics 36, 37, 40 and 43 also show some pitting on the left side of the barrel. Hopefully the bidders will notice that. Sad that some sellers refuse to disclose that type of info.

That hand engraving of the serial number on the bolt has me concerned. That isn't the original bolt, thats a replacement. Why???

  • toad67toad67 Member Posts: 13,009 ✭✭✭✭

The serial number engraved on the bolt matches the receiver serial number. What do you see, that makes you think something is wrong? I like to be educated on things that I want to put in my safe..😉

The engraving on the bolt was hand engraved, not rolled or stamped. And not a very steady hand either. Usually when gun is sent back to the factory and they replace the bolt, the box of replacement bolts are not numbered. They grab one and hand engrave the number. Remmington did that to me on a brand new 700 XCR that the bolt handle fell off when chambering the second round into the gun. I did not accept the gun back like that and demanded a entire new gun which they did.
