I think you assume correct on using the forum side of GB.
I Thought that was the answer. In 1999, I found this place and lurked until April of the next year when I signed up. I started using the auction side a few months earlier.

You have to have a GB account as well as register on the forum. I've had a GB account for many years plus enjoyed lurking on the forums since the early 2000's - until that change was made.

I guess I understand the double edged sword in this situation.. When we had lots of lurkers and when members were not vetted in any real way, we also had more disruptions, attempts to link us to other things, inappropriate posts, a short take over (remember Lars) etc. I would have never found this place had I not been searching for a firearm talkboard in 1999. I hope we go on for at least as long as I am around and beyond !!
