Tomorrow is graduation day for my boy. He's a firefighter in Kotzebue and the city paid to have pairs of them go to the TEEX Fire Fighters Academy in Texas. He's been there for weeks and tomorrow is the big day.
Woo hoo!!!

Good for him . Nothing better than firefighting . Did he do the academy training course or something else ?. Any way I welcome him to the brotherhood of firefighting !
Congratulations to your son for this achievement....And congratulations to you for raising a fine young man !!!
Outstanding!
Wow, that's a great achievement! Congrats to your son, you and your wife.
If I had a son in Texas and a son in prison, I'd try to get the first one home first.😁
congrats wish the best for him
its a special person who risk there life for other property and lifes
I did some basic fire training where I use to work was on the fire brigade it was interesting and I learned a lot in the crash courses we took over a several month time frame after work and weekends ( and respect for those that do it for a living ) even humping all the hardware is a chore
local fire department /rescue squad tried to get me to join just after I retied from my old factory job since I would in theory I could be on 24/7 call ( all volunteer ) but I opted out my back I knew could not take it I did not want to hurt any one or my self more
but my youngest son is closing in on joining same offer they will pay for the training he is buddies with most of them and going to roast a hog for a fund raiser for them so when ask to join he said what the heck lets see what come out of it
He showed me this video before he left for Texas, this is what they've been doing. Good LORD!
I'll tell him he's been officially welcomed into the Brotherhood... he's already working on his epic moustache.
Here's the look of a content young man that knows where he's going in life, here cutting firewood for the Elders. He already has the look of wisdom in his eyes.
Ice rescue training.
Not an easy job.
Congrats to him.
Commendable! You must be very proud of your son!
Now you mention it, I admit sitting here with a tear in my eye marveling at what a fine young man he turned out to be.
Wow. I just wish my dad was here to see what his grandson has done.
congrats to you also
Congratulations to both of you. 😁
Joe
Congratulations to you and Nanuq Jr. Somehow I believe your dad is up there saying " That's my boys!!"
Fantastic! You both should be proud and I'll second @jimdeere's post! ^
I am envious . That is an awesome training ground ! Lp gas and flammable liquid training is the most intense/ butt puckering all out fun thing I ever encountered in firefighting. You use a fog pattern spray to actually push the fire away from you. If you are on the nozzle you can see the fire hit the water and bounce backwards away from you . You work your way up to the appliance and cut off the flow of propane thus putting out the fire . Many time you will see icicles hanging from the piping ,inside the fire . Welcome to our world , take pride in being a smokeater !
12-week course at "Disaster City" on the Texas A&M campus. Sounds like quite a challenge!
That's terrific, congratulations to your son.👨🚒
