Yea, I have been looking at these, since nobody makes a reasonable priced basic pickup anymore. Marketed to be super affordable, starting at under $20K. By the time you add the basic, non-luxury, things you need to make it able to do anything but pickup groceries, it’s more like $30K.
I ordered mine in June of 2021. Took delivery in December 2021. 2500 miles so far and no problems. Averaging 28 mpg around town and 31 on the highway. I got the 2.0 Ecoboost with AWD. So far I am very happy with this little truck. I have my Silverado 2500HD for the heavy work and towing. This Ford is my daily driver and run around town vehicle as it gets twice the mileage of the Silverado. Mine ended up being $27,000 out the door. XLT package, factory bedliner and AWD with tow package.
mileage doesn't sound bad , and it's about $10,000 less than a Ranger
I figure I may need one more vehicle before I retire and that one is on the list.
Just the name of this truck takes me back to one of my first vehicles. A 1970 Maverick with a straight 6, 3 on the tree, two door, powder baby blue. It was the car I bought when I first started dating the gal that became my wife. She even gave it a name! Maud the Maverick or Maudy she often referred to it. She glued little stuffed animals to the dash and added many female touches to that car.😍
Hmmmmm! I just may have to rethink my plans during these retirement years and buy one of these. I kind of figured I was done after buying my BIL's 2007 Ford Ranger 4x4 two years ago. Heck! I haven't even put 1000 miles on it yet, so my WANTS may be over-shadowing my NEEDS here.
Affordable vehicles are a great idea especially pick ups.Seems there are many more $75000 pick ups than $20000 pick ups.
I'm currently wearing out my 3rd ranger (2011), the new rangers are the size of f-150's. very interested in the maverick but I want to 'look' at one 1st. none on the dealers lot yet.
I found 5 of them within 100 miles of me , may have to go next Saturday and take a test drive
, if you want to see dealers that might have them, go to Ford web site and click on the maverick and them click on dealership inventory , it will let you put in your zip code and then how many miles away you want to look , up to 100 miles
Here's mine the night I took delivery at the dealer lot. I originally ordered cactus gray, but changed the color to iconic silver.
nice , but which trim level and what package does yours have ?
Nice little vehicle but that woman was very annoying.
Make is a two door with an 8 foot bed and then we will have something.
The original Ford Maverick with a 300 6 cylinder was a pretty fast little car.
As stated in my original response to this thread~
XLT package, factory bedliner and AWD with 4K tow package.
I actually ordered it with FWD and 4K tow package. The engineers at Ford realized during testing that this truck with FWD may have issues pulling a 3800 pound boat and trailer up a steep, wet boat ramp. The weight on the hitch from the boat lifting the front end thus reducing traction. So the 516 of us that ordered that configuration got a free AWD upgrade for their gaff. Kudos to Ford for doing that.
My biggest concern is the GDI engine. Supposedly gasoline direct injection engines can have serious carbon deposits on the intake valves due to the fuel not being injected on the back of the valves and stems (thus keeping them clean). With a GDI engine the fuel is directly injected into the cylinder via super high pressure injectors and pump. Pretty neat technology until it fails. And it will at some point. This engine is also turbo charged which gives it crazy power. 250 hp. It will get up and go! I bought the extended warranty so I will be good for a while.
Best of luck whatever you decide.
I like her videos.
Side note on small turbo engines. I test drove a 2 door 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0 Turbo the other day. Holy smokes that thing moves out pretty dang good.
A sleeper, I believe they were called, back in the day
Best of luck whatever you decide.
Thanks but
not much to decide on , can't find any that are available any where , they're all pre-sold pretty much before they even hit the lot
I didn't listen to her very long
I only remember the original cars coming with a 170, a 200, and a 250 inline six until they added the 302 V-8. My parents ordered one from the factory with a 200 motor, AC and three on the tree and the total cost was something like $2200 and it was a good car.
well, I did it. had my '16 f-350 serviced at the ford dealer and mentioned I'd like to sell it and was looking for a maverick. they said they'd only seen 2 and those were per-ordered. on the way back I stopped at a 'used car lot' (recommended by a friend) and they had a 'new' maverick on the lot (23.5 miles). took delivery today, traded my 'old' truck in and got a several thousand dollar check to boot.😊 https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/275378345_1056845565175505_4320564861181342378_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-5&_nc_sid=730e14&_nc_ohc=WzxxXGNsM1cAX92XKfX&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-2.xx&oh=00_AT8uWT23E5ZnmHkBKdx773nvjtZucAXh66BTv08vyuROJQ&oe=62313FD0
Yours is what is called "Carbonized Gray". That was my 3rd choice in color. I ended up going with Iconic silver. I have less than 3000 miles on mine. I changed the oil at 1000 miles and will change it every 3000 miles due to it being turbo charged and a GDI engine. No way would I wait 5000 or whatever the factory recommends. Best of luck.
Congrats, MW! Bet you'll miss sittin' up high in that F-350 though.
I appreciate the comments in this thread. I have been considering one of these for my bride.
"I changed the oil at 1000 miles and will change it every 3000 miles"....I'll put about 2000 before the 1st change (trip home), I'm a 'snow bird' right now
"Bet you'll miss sittin' up high in that F-350 though.".......yup, it was nice to have the drive up girls look 'up' at you
Hmmmm! You bought a new truck at a used car lot? 😮
Maybe that's where they are hiding all the new ones! 😁
Nice truck Mike!
I've read several articles now that Ford has suspended taking orders for the Maverick due to being overwhelmed by demand.
My FIL has been looking for one, and was told by a local dealer that they are not accepting any orders for an indefinite time period.
He's looking on the net now, and just like everything else, the prices are jacked up.
Anybody remember the Ford pick ups years ago that were unibody? They had problems that with a heavy load and not sitting on level ground the body would flex and you could not open the doors. They probably have that fixed in the newer ones.
I owned a 61 and a 64 Ford unibody. I never had any problems. I wish I still had them. Don
I thought ford had one of these just few years back, just called something different, escape maybe????? small suv with real small bed like 4 ft or somesuch...... it was the explorer sport trac, just small suv with even smaller bed, much like the chevy avalance or the new one from honda, ridgeline, though they seem to be more fullsize than the ford
those 60's fords had the cab and bed as one piece but they were body on frame underneath.
"the prices are jacked up.".........I suspect the used car dealer bought this (ordered it?) from the local ford dealer, his price was a little 'over sticker' price. but he gave me Sutch a good price for my f-350 I'm happy with the deal. this truck was 'built' in Feb. 22.
Trading in a 2016 F350.......I hope you got tens of thousands back!!!!
"I hope you got tens of thousands back!!!!"..............while not that much I did get several 'k' back...I did check autotrader 1st and got close to what similar trucks were being sold for
video on what the different packages have
