I think that there will be un official US boots on the ground. Some young vets longing for a righteous cause will be going on their own to join the International Brigade as volunteers to kick some commie a&s.
I've already seen reports of vets flying over with body armor and optics to join in.
I think Putin probably knows that in a conventional war the USA would kick his butt. Sleepy Joe and his handlers are always crying we don't want to get in a war with a Nuclear Power. If all nations take this attitude and they do, it is like a stamp of approval for Putin to go ahead and do what he wants to do. I guess I am trying to say "Do you want to die on your feet or spend the rest of your life on your knees" I think the citizens of Ukraine have shown they do not want to spend the rest of their lives on their knees. So give them the arms, ammo and planes to defend themselves and perhaps the European countries will put some "Boots on the Ground" If all else fails then I think we should consider sending in our troops. Helping others has been our cross to bear for a very long time. I am afraid the Ukrainians will be annihilated before we reach the point of sending our troops. I hope I am wrong.----------Ray
Most theories of international relations agree that states generally act in their own national interests. At present, it is not in our national interest to intervene directly, and it likely never will be due to the risk vs gain calculus. We will stand by and cheer Ukraine on and hope for the best, throw a few sanctions, and that is about it.
Shifting to Taiwan, ask yourself if it would be in our national interest to go to war with China over Taiwan. You’ll probably agree that one is a no as well. As such, don’t expect to see us rushing to the rescue when the hammer drops over there either.
Taiwan is a little different! If China invades(bombs) Taiwan, then we will immediately be in a war! We have hundreds/thousands of US troops stationed in Taiwan. That WOULD be a direct threat on the USA. I hope it never happens, but with sleepy Joe in charge anything is possible.
As long as you're willing to go fight, I have exactly zero truck with you advocating for involvement.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I agree, it’s their war OVER THERE right now. No one likes to here about war and what it causes in human tragedy. But there always seems to be somebody fighting somebody in Europe, been that way for century’s .
Imagine you woke up this morning old, cold, sick, no food and your car has been reduced to scrap metal by a Russian bomb. Your only source of water is the snow that came off the roof. There is no one to help you because many of your friends and relatives have been slaughtered by Russian bombs and tanks/artillery. You were too weak to say goodbye as they were buried in a mass grave.
It is ironic that thousands of the Ukrainian refugees have crossed into Poland and received temporary food and shelter, the same country that Hitler stormed into in 38/39? We sat on the side and waited and watched while Hitler killed millions. Finally, we made him pay for his evil doings.-----------------------------------Ray
Did you watch VP Harris on tv when she was in Poland talking about the refugees, went into one of her uncontrollable laughing sessions again. Disgusting.
Let us not forget that The Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east as Germany invaded from the west. The Kremlin has been a criminal enterprise for generations.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.
Thanks for mentioning that fact. Sounds like a whole lot of squeezing going on there. World History is not my Forte'. '37 Winchesters, now that's another matter.------------Ray
During the Battle of Britain when Germany inexplicably switched from bombing military targets and airfields to civilian population centers, British morale didn't crack, in fact it strengthened their resolve to fight on. Putin must know this, or at least the people around him do.
I think Putin has become Hitler in that he's surrounded himself with yes-men who are afraid to tell him anything but what he wants to hear.
I am ready for all out WW III...........let them start throwing nukes around. Quit it with the kid stuff. Putin needs to be put in the ground. Xi needs to be put in the ground.
We need energy independence and $1.75 gas again...........with full shelves at the grocery store.
Oh yeah...........Biden and Harris need to be put #$ the #$*$nd also.
I think people tend to forget how easy an all out world war can start and how devastating they are. It's easy to sit back and say it's time we get it on. Once it starts there's no turning back.
People at the start of WWI hadn't seen war in Europe in so many years they forgot and they thought it was going to be wonderful to go off to war like they had read about the hero's in earlier times in their history books. They left in train loads of cheering and waving soldiers with loved ones waving back and cheering their brave sons on. All sides thinking they would go to war and come back as the glorious heroes and winners by Christmas. Little did they know.
Trouble had been boiling for years in that part of the world but it only took the assassination of one prince and his wife to kick start WWI and to set the world on fire. Simply amazing how little it took.
The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I, was around 40 million. There were 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians.
In WWII an estimated total of 70–85 million people perished, or about 3% of the 2.3 billion (est.) people on Earth in 1940. Deaths directly caused by the war (including military and civilian fatalities) are estimated at 50–56 million, with an additional estimated 19–28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine.
Albert Einstein was ask once in an interview what he thought world war3 would be like, he said, “ I don’t know, but if there is a world war 3 world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones”.

History repeats it's self over and over again. We're always trying to stay out of European wars but it never happens.

When Russia fires a few missiles at the UK we'll be there and it's likely to happen since their bushy headed prime minster is poking the bear.

Zelensky today to British Parliment. " We will not give up. We will not lose. We will fight on the land, the sea , in our forest and our streets"
Watched a Ukrainian man who had lost his wife and whole family from shelling picking up rubble with tears in his eyes.------------------------Ray
I do not want Joe Biden throwing away American lives in Ukraine.

Supply them with weapons and aid I agree with.

The war started September 1 1939.

WWII was even worse.

I'm just saying it might not be a bad thing to cull the "world herd" just a little bit.
What does the UN do? We send it millions of dollars every year. Yet when there is a need for them to do something, they sit on their hands.
I'd prefer drink some more good whiskey before I get vaporized.
