hog roast

my youngest son and one of his buddies helped a local fire dept by having a hog roast my son did the cooking / smoking of the meat and his neighbor did the butchering ( his profession )

they were ask to help several months ago so they volunteered . in the past I was told they did spaghetti dinners would get maybe 60 or so people

my son and his buddy old school pals and neighbors his family is big in the community for generations ( all are farmers ) started posting and getting word out about it in from what I was told the past not so much

they invited a governor candidate and a couple of the fire department people apparently had a cow to put it mildly they ( the few ) did not want him there and were all mad , I guess there is a few Dems every where . but my son and his group agreed to no speeches the fellow agreed said he would just mingle with the group one on one . my wife went ( I was not felling that great so stayed home ) she said last count they had served 365 dinners and not sure what the total was going to be .

I will wager the volunteer fire dept had the best turn out and made the most money than before . not bragging on my son and his buddy's however they did put little more effort and contacted friends and got the word out to show up . and it worked .

oh my wife came home with a take home dinner for me 😀 and a new yard sign and a new hat supporting the fellow running for governor and 50.00 less than she left home with, LOL she donated to his campaign
