We had similar issues in the early invasion of Iraq. The tires on the Humvees were old and we had flats all the time. Add to that no spare tires mounted to wheels changing a tire out is a PITA.
The entire world is learning a lot about the efffectiveness of the Russian military right now.............not all that they were cracked up to be.
I was a little worried about the topic heading. But hey, who am I to judge. Bob
As usual with complicated issues, several factors are probably involved.
One, Russia's military is consistently underfunded. Their entire defense budget about matches that of the UK.
Two, while they may have lots of equipment, it is poorly maintained with few spare parts or supplies.
Three, troops are poorly paid, sparsely trained, and have poor morale.
Lastly, the thinking is that Putin expected Ukraine to capitulate in fear at the sight of a massed invasion force. If fighting started, it would be over in a few days. There would therefore be no need for extensive re-supply.
I waited until now to even open it, for that very reason.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I think Rocky's on track.
I also saw the stories about bad Russian intelligence believing the country would roll over in just a couple of days. Now I am seeing reports of Russian troops suffering frostbite because of a lack of proper winter gear. Brings to mind the Nazi army having the same problem in WW2. Considering their history, if any country should be prepared for cold weather warfare, it should be Russia. I guess it isn't only the West who fails to learn from history. Bob
When in a war you can expect Murphy's Law to come into effect, regardless of your readiness or which side your on. 😉

Many countries are poverty stricken, we have many areas in the US that fit the desccription. I would make a somewhat educated guess from talking with missionaries who have been serving in both Russia and the Ukraine.
The people are not too well off, two classes, the have and have not's. Guess which is the biggest number?
My 2 cents, if Putin and his army had been what they were thought to be, the invasion and take over would happend very quickly.
I think this invasion will open up a lot of eyes as to how unprepared Russia is for combat. Plus the attitude of their soldiers isn't very good, especially after being lied to about the reception they were supposed to get when they got to Ukraine.

Never, ever, outrun your supply chain. Napoleon did it and paid the price. Some never learn. If you can't shoot, move and communicate, it ain't going to end well.
Ukranians were underestimated
Putin has sucked the lifeblood out of his country for his own wealth...........his army sucks donkey dongs.
