Have no answer. But a new barrel will fix it. Overall, it will kill.
I have learned it takes all kinds, and some kinds should have been victims of birth control. I have been in awe about the quality of firearms you have been selling lately but this one drops that opinion just a bit. Bob
Cutting the barrel to 18" will put it out of its misery.
I have been putting off listing it thinking I might find a barrel, but a new one costs $400.00. I have a 870 to list and it has had the same treatment.
looks like it was carefully removed with a 9" angle grinder. nothing a little polishing wont fix.
That was Joe's first attempt at "World Class." The rest as they say is history.
That vent rib will make a couple dandy accessory rails on another gun. That's the one I wanna see.
That's what I'd do because with the black plastic stock and fore end it's never gonna look nice anyway.
They just removed some weight so that it points better.
over the years ( as some of you ) I have met people a gun is just a tool no more no less like a old wrench or hammer and treated that way . A coworker brought over a 870 once for me to check out clean and get it working . he was a trapper and a hunter but used the gun to clear brush tree limbs and I would swear as a boat paddle / shovel .. I cleaned it up and ask WTH he just said I use it 😲and I have seen a few more like it .
for me it was cringing moment as my whole life I have used my guns abut also looked at them as a tool that needs taken care of . I may be a bit over the top as I clean every gun after using it, however I do the same with all my hand tools maybe from having to take care of every thing to make it last as a kid and it carried over but I dont see it as bad habit any way
1 shotgun + 1 angle grinder + 1 fool = This abomination.
New style of "matte rib"
Well at least it will bring $1.00.
Could have gotten broke off/damaged and the owner just decided to remove it.
Of all of them that is the worse looking of the bunch.
🤮
And the rest of the gun looks great, inside and out.
It does but the rib looks like it was cut off with a cutoff wheel and the guy doing it was drunk. It would be a good score if you can get it kind of cheap then get another barrel.
I think the evidence points to the forend being chewed up by vise jaws. This line of thinking means whoever didn't even take the barrel off to do the deed. And I'm not convinced that whoever used an angle grinder. Evidence supports a hacksaw. Maybe just a blade. If there's enough rib left, it could be draw-filed down to even it out.
WTF???

Might have been shooting a little low. He removed the rib so he could look closer to the barrel 😁😎. Can't raise the bead, it's much easier to cut the rib down! LOL
He should have sanded his face down.
File it smooth then parkerize it
How do you know it was a he??.......ok, I confess that it was most likely a "man" that had this ignorant idea. LOL
Because his widow brought me the guns to sell.
