I have been listening to country music since about 1965. One of my all time favorites was Merle Haggard. So many great ones have passed over the years. I listen to Willies Roadhouse on Sirius XM and am amazed at how many songs I still remember but haven’t heard for years.

George Jones, followed closely by Merle then the outlaws, (Waylon, Willie, etc.) I can usually sing along with any country from the late 40's to the late 70's after that it'* and miss.
George Strait and Reba.
All the outlaws.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Dolly
Billy Joe Shaver. Hank W. As far as the newer ones go, Sturgill Simpson. Sierra Ferrel. Charlie Crockett. Absolutely none of the urban-contemporary country clowns.
Johnny Cash (the man in black) and Bobby Bare. Otherwise I'm not a CW fan.
Hank Jr
Don Williams, such a smooth voice..
So many, but to name a few;
Waylon
Patsy Cline
Hank sr
most any from the 50's through the 70's
Kiss An Angel Good Morning - Country Charlie Pride
Plus 100000 Charlie Pride. Love that voice.
Saw Charlie in Seattle back in the 70s. Great show.
Difficult to pick just a couple so many I grew up listing too as this all dad would play
At least I can say it was the older country music and blue grass I am more fond of
Jim Reeves. Kinda dates me eh?
Charlie rich comes to mind as do bobby bare and Roy Drusky and Johnny Horton . If you are looking for traditional sounding pure country music check out my neighbors The Malpass Brothers .
A lot of them. One of the lessor mentioned- Mel McDaniel
Heard this song some 40 years ago, a kid was playing it aboard ship. Heard it maybe 3 or 4 times back then and looked it up a couple of months ago.
Remembered every wor like it was yesterday.
Brad Steele
Got to meet Marty Robbins a couple times at the race track I liked a lot of his stuff
Alan Jackson. Favorite by far.
I get to see Bobby Bare quite often as he goes bass fishing in the lake I live on a lot. I have been in the local restaurant a couple of times and Bobby would come in and eat. He’s really a great guy, Bobby and Porter Wagoner spent their winters in the town I live in fishing and hanging out and singing at Cat Fish Johnny’s.
I'm really shocked no one has mentioned Cody Jinks. He is BY FAR the most popular "outlaw" country artist right now.....and deservedly so.
I absolutely love his music.
Check it out, one of my favorites:
Merc
Marty Robbins ... El Passo
First and foremost......Patsy Cline.
Then.....back in the day.......I played some racquetball "cutthroat" with Michael Martin Murphy. A good guy......and salty player.
Emma Lou Harris
Been listening to Colter Wall. It is proper country music.
sylvia....
Anybody remember this guy?

Hoyt Axton is way up there too. Technically George Straight isn't an outlaw, but I include him. Love Jamie Johnson and Chris Stapleton too.

Merle Haggard.
BTW country music died out in the 90s
You got that right!
Barry Sadler! Yeah, baby!
Gotta agree with Joe. Lots of favorites over the years. It's hard to pick just one.
