I have said all along that Alec would walk. He doesn't bear criminal responsibility.
This line in the article above caught my eye: " The set’s armorer has also sued the ammo supplier that provided the live rounds."
What? She loaded the gun with live rounds, and it is the fault of the ammo supplier? The female brain at work. She can't tell a live round from a blank, as she loaded the gun?
It is the armorer who should go to jail. I hope she can get her platinum pink hair dye in prison.
I am going to hire an armorer to load my guns from now on.
It will be such a relief knowing I won't be responsible, if "someone" gets killed - because an armorer loaded my gun.
Also hire a script writer who pens the line "point gun at ... and pull trigger." That will completely absolve you.
It goes back 119 years, to the opening scene of The Great Train Robbery. [seven second video] The actor aims a gun at the camera and fires. Sean Connery did it in the opening scene of Goldfinger.
You can't expect every actor to be a gun expert. That is what they pay the armorer for.
Guilty until proven rich! No one here can possible say that Alec is not guilty! He will get off because he is rich and has rich friends. Was it an accident...yes. Did he have control of the weapon when he pulled the trigger.....yes. There are people in prison right now for an accidental shooting, even when the victim needed shooting. SMDH
Why should he be held responsible now, when he has walked on numerous occasions after violent attacks on people.
He is a poster child for the libtards and they will back his play all the way. That is the difference between us the dems and libtards will back you all the way right or wrong and the media will be there to aid them in any way.
The only justice that will come from this is if the family can sue him to pieces and even then the media and loony leftys will come after the family and cancel them.
...He's only been cleared by the New Mexico "OSHA"...local legal authorities or state DA may have something to say about where it goes from here...

I've said my piece several times on this already. Some of you act like he had an AD in the woods and shot his kid. There are far different rules on a set of a movie.
I can't stand Alec Baldwin and am glad it happened to a guy like him but he has nearly zero responsibility for an accidental shooting on a film set. The gun safety is supposed to be handled by the armorer, the stunt coordinator and the 1st AD. Never in the history of modern film has the actors ever been responsible for the props.
I didn't know it was loaded is not a defense for stupidity. He had complete control of a firearm that took a life. Take responsibility pretend you are a man Alec.
Nothing bad ever happens to a Democrat.
She died at his hand.
While I detest Baldwin, I have to agree with Shootuadeal. This is an area that has been upheld in law on past occasions. The actor is not expected to be an expert on firearms- thus the role of the armorer.
However, in this case, from what I have read, the armorer may have been taken out of their proper role by the Asst. Director- who was the person that handed Baldwin a loaded firearm.
I had never seen that opening until later in life much later 😕
any way when I was a young fellow my dad swore at the movie theater some for the first time a cow boy came on on screen and fired a pistol just like the movie clip a fellow in the audience pulled his gun and fired back .. now my dad had no reason to lie or make up the story and this was back in the 1960's or so he told me about it and it was after he passed on I ran across the film clip above ,, I have no idea just a wild guess it may have ben the one my dad had seen . again just a wild guess but seems reasonable
The decedent’s husband works at one of the largest law firms in the country. I’m thinking It will be difficult to afford to do sustained battle with them helping out a fellow employee and colleague in the civil suit.
"'Rust' insurance policy shows Alec Baldwin film production had $1 million liability protection. The insurance policy covered the "Rust" film production in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It provided up to $2 million in aggregate liability protection. The insurance covers financial losses for injuries and damages caused on set."
Got a total policy of $2 million. I am surprised it is that small. Baldwin has a personal net worth of $65 million.
My brother works for a big Atlanta law firm and he has handled big liability cases. The award is based on the age of the decedent, and their potential income for their truncated life. It doesn't hurt, if the dead person is young, pretty, and blonde and a mother, like this camera gal.
Baldwin is going to lose $10 million and it could go to $15 million. I do think it serves him right to be liable in civil court, in the first place he hired an incompetent armorer.
@shootuadeal, Alec was NOT performing an active scene. The producers were moving cameras around trying to get better lighting. Alec took it apon HIMSELF to point, cock the hammer, and PULL the trigger. He is at fault. His latest claim is that he never actually pulled the trigger, it just went off. SMH. He took possession of a firearm that did NOT come from the "firearm expert"! He had no reason to have that gun in his hand at that time and ZERO reason to pull the trigger!
Hmmm, it's hard to say.
Is there a college that offers a degree in "arms & explosives". Or, even a course in arms?
I believe that the NRA offers "firearms instructor" courses. But, is a certificate even required by the US movie industry? Or, can the studio just offer a job to any friend who needs to pick up some extra money?
Still too many questions.
Neal
The problem today is that people are hypocrites & do not accept responsibility. Actors denounce guns but make their money using them in movies, etc. Is there a course with certification for armorers??? Should an actor be required to at least show competency with guns & other deadly props they use??? NO, they do most scenes in front of a green screen and then have doubles filling in for them. So much for actors being qualified professionals.
At a firearms instructor course, the instructor passed a Glock around so all could see that it was unloaded. He then showed everyone that it was unloaded, put it to his head & pulled the trigger. All to show that it was a tool or machine & safe when you know how to use it. My response was that even though the chain saw isn't running, you still don't f... with the blade.
I don't know of any certified courses specifically for being a movie armorer. But anything to build credentials will help you get the job. I don't think they just hire anybody.
I only know 3 people that have been armorers or have been hired as armorers and all were either gun store owners or employees but I'm definitely not in a big area where that job is needed real often.
When I was in the backend introduction emails to everyone I was introduced as a gun store owner, competitive shooter and firearm historian but those were the producers remarks on me after a few visits, I did mention them on an application or anything. As a matter of fact the first day the 1st Assistant Director made me prove to him over and over again that every gun was unloaded. The rest of the time he checked on me but not as closely after I believe he realized that I knew what I was doing.
No fan of Baldwin. And his "I didn't pull the trigger" is likely demonstrably false. I suspect there would be different opinions held and expressed if John Wayne actually did shoot Liberty Valance. 🧐
My thoughts are ,if you are handed a firearm you consider it loaded until you have opened the cylinder and have it open . That's the only time it should be considered unloaded by you , and you still do not point it at someone .
I take comfort in the fact he has to look at that hideous mug of his in the mirror each morning.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I don't like the guy even a little bit but that was not his fault. They handed him the gun as they were rehearsing a scene and told him to shoot. Actually he didn't even pull the trigger the big dumba$$ pulled the hammer back and let it slip before it was cocked and the gun fired.
People here on the forum being gun savvy would have checked the gun first to see if it was loaded with blanks or not but those actors don't have a clue and shouldn't have to since they hire people to do that job. If you go out and run over somebody because your brakes fail on your car is it your fault you didn't check the brake job after you had them replaced by a professional at the dealership? Makes about as much sense.
Here's the revolver Baldwin should have been using.
Unless defective/damaged.........the revolver should not fire, unless FULLY cocked AND trigger pulled.
Cylinder rotation....etc.
Hope this helps.
They were NOT rehearsing a scene{were moving cameras because of the sunlight), Alec TOLD someone to give him a gun(NOT the armourer), Alec DID cock the pistol, Alec DID point it at someone, and Alec DID PULL the trigger. If you believe that the gun just went off, then I don't know what to tell you.
Was it an accident....YES! Are there people in prison RIGHT NOW for accidental discharges, YES!
He should be punished for what he did...... ESPECIALLY for lying about pulling the trigger. SMDH
New Mexico sheriff says the 'Rust' shooting investigation is 'ongoing' after Alec Baldwin claimed he was exonerated in the deadly shooting
"We appreciate that the report exonerates Mr. Baldwin by making clear that he believed the gun held only dummy rounds," Baldwin said in a statement on his Instagram. "Additionally, the report recognizes that Mr. Baldwin's authority on the production was limited to approving script changes and creative casting."
"Mr. Baldwin had no authority over the matters that were the subject of the Bureau's findings of violations, and we are pleased that the New Mexico officials have clarified these critical issues," he continued. "We are confident that the individuals identified in the report will be held accountable for this tragedy."
The sheriff's office did not respond to Insider's request for comment on Baldwin's claims he had been exonerated.
OHSB Communications Director Matthew Maez told journalist Emily Miller last week that their investigation "does not exonerate or implicate anyone," adding that the agency looks into working conditions on the set and not "intended to look into one person's role."
Here is an interview with the DA from 2 months ago in Newsweek. This gal obviously doesn't know anything about guns. She doesn't even know which gun Baldwin was shooting, which was, in fact, a Flli Pietta repro of the 1873 Colt. He was shooting a modern-made Italian reproduction. She had an investigator bring in "an old time revolver" for them to test. A female DA is going to get to the bottom of this case!
"Alec Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger on the gun that discharged live ammunition and fatally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust last October.
"I let go of the hammer and the gun goes off. I never pulled the trigger," the actor said in the weeks following the incident in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. That claim had been widely questioned and even disputed by some gun experts.
But now, the Santa Fe, New Mexico, District Attorney investigating the events has seemingly corroborated Baldwin's claim that the gun misfired without the trigger being squeezed.
"I didn't know too much about guns, certainly not about 1850s-era revolvers. So when I first heard that, I was like, 'Oh, that's crazy,'" District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said in an interview with Vanity Fair.
The D.A. revealed she launched an "unofficial" investigation of her own to test Baldwin's claim about how the gun fired. With the help of her team of investigators, she tested an unloaded old revolver in an empty room.
"One of the investigators in my office happens to have a very old type revolver, and so he brought it, at my request, so that we could look at it and see if that was at all possible," she told the magazine.

"Then they visually showed me," Carmack-Altwies explained. "You can pull the hammer back without actually pulling the trigger and without actually locking it. So you pull it back partway, it doesn't lock, and then if you let it go, the firing pin can hit the primer of the bullet."
That piece of HollyWood scum still has to live with the fact that he shot and killed someone.............by accident.
Hope this closes soon, enough time on an anti gun freak murderer. But here I posted about it.
He is only worried about his own MONEY and his own future. I doubt he lost a minute of sleep for the life lost and lives damaged!
I see now. This is a gun thread.. I thought maybe it was about one of my U.S. Senators.
I am not sure if the deceased's family would rather Baldwin be found responsible or if the legal process determined that the gun malfunctioned and the manufacturer be responsible. I am sure the Dem's would rather it not be Baldwin because it fits their agenda. And, I am sure the gun manufacturer has deeper pockets and more insurance than Baldwin.
People that resent people because they're "rich" are people that are either extremely lazy or not very bright and find it easier to set on their couch and guzzle beer while they complain about others. Anyone that is poor in this country it's their own fault and no one else's. The majority of "rich" or well off people in this country did not inherit their money they made it by getting out of bed before 7:00 AM and going to school, while working 2 jobs if they didn't have a family to help and then getting a good job after school, made good investments, built companies that put thousands of people to work that pay the lion share of taxes in this country.
This subject has just about played itself out.
IBTL
And, maybe some do.....but I have NO problem with rich people.
I have a problem with people that never take responsibility for their actions, think everyone is beneath them, and people who don't believe in the USA nor the constitution.
