Can AI legally be an inventor?

I guess we will soon find out. There is a case pending in the Federal Circuit court (it's on appeal currently) that will decide whether AI can legally be considered an inventor. The US patent office has twice said no.

From Dennis Crouch's analysis: "Both sides in this case have good arguments, but we should probably be troubled if the result is that “two otherwise patentable inventions cannot receive patent protection” despite the statutory statement that “[p]atentability shall not be negated by the manner in which the invention was made.” 35 U.S.C. 103."

What do you all think? Should AI be allowed to be inventors and obtaining patents? The owner of the patent would still be a human (or business... at least in this case).

Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
