The middle photo depicts my favorite: rust blued receiver with the perfect accent, nickle locking lugs !

That rubber butt pad looks as corny as it gets on that rifle. Oh, and I don't like curved levers either. Other than that she's a sweet looker.
I'm right there with you on the rubber butt pad, but since it's made to order ... I would specify a steel Niedner trapdoor butt plate.
A.O. Niedner produced the same museum quality firearms a century ago.

Regardless of how pretty it looks, it is a crying shame to totally gussy up a fine old antique firearm with a lot of history. I don't care who did it, it is a total restoration and worth only half of its previous value.
Beautiful case color, but not Winchester.
I'd find a place in the safe for any of those!
truthful, I'm with you on this. The exception being when a really rough firearm is completely redone. I have seen the before and after pics of many of Turnbull's restorations. Like poop to apple butter!!
To me Turnbull's work is true artistry!!
They are very nice. My favorite is number three but I would want a tang sight for those far-off buffalo shots.

A tang sight would be a great asset. A big plus for the 1886 period rifle.
If I read their website correctly these are not restored antiques but rather gussied up reproductions. New guns made purty.
...Turnbull does reproductions AND restorations, beautiful work...I suppose the owner of any gun can do with it as they please...
...I know that no one is going to instruct me on any mods or upgrades I do to any gun I own, that I spent my money for...if I want to chrome plate a WWI 1911 , my money, my gun... that said, I collect factory original Colt 1911's and wouldnt dream of modifying a single one...the only "modified" Colt 1911 I own, is one that was sold and "modified" by the Colt factory , as the "Colt Custom"...
