Looks like I won't have to go far this fall. They like sitting under Mom's front porch. Might be a 5 yd shot & it would be over before a neighbor knew. S, S & F (shoot, shut-up & freezer)

Don't knock porch hunting, AL. Results are what matter.
I sure hope that you guys are kidding
I shoot all of mine above board....( off of the deck )
Best deer stands there are. Wake up, have breakfast, go to the porch and open the window, and then choose your deer. The key to this successful hunt, don’t let your wife sit out in the porch with you drinking coffee after she has named all the deer through out the year.
you can allways shoot the one she doesn't get along with........
Porch hunting is the BEST hunting, if you are so lucky!
PS, i let this one live for another day(saving her for the nephew)
@waltermoe I cant let my wife out when porch hunting either. If I do, then SHE will shoot em all! 😁
A buddy's father is in his early 90's. Every Whitetail season in Illinois for the last 10 years or so, they have bundled him up and sat him in a comfortable chair on the back porch/deck at the old family farm... He hunts with a 20ga Remington 1100 with a slug barrel or a CVA muzzle loader. The old duffer still gets one every year. I hope my sons do the same for me 20 years or so from now !!
Believe me, I'd much rather hunt like I used to. Get up at 4:30, drive to a pre-scouted spot in the forest, and wait for the big one to come.
But there are few deer in the mountains. They're all down low around civilization.
I got tired of the old way when I would come home and mrsdeere would tell me about the big one she saw in the back yard.
@jimdeere You're right Jim. These 2 were waiting in the yard when the Mrs returned from her walk & they didn't run off.
like this?
My porch, my farm, and when critters show up they are fair game.
They are unsafe at most any reasonable distance.
I live in the sticks therefore a shot taken whist in a "fruit of the loom" moment is possible.
Just my robe on with wet hair one Sunday Morning and deer sausage in the kubota bucket.
