Local auction site has this available at the moment. Any idea of its worth?

50.00 to 100.00
Susie ,,,,,,, when ya get through at the auction, you can give me an idea what my #2 - #10 skillets, dome top Dutch oven and cornbread pans are worth ,,,,,,, all Griswold. 😊
Lol. Not my skillet. I'm checking to see if I should bid or let it go. I live in the middle of nowhere, it's a Facebook auction page for us locals who are members of that specific page. Current bid is $40 so it's nearing it's worth.
Btw, if it was mine it wouldn't look this rough. Who lets this happen? Barbarians!!
Easy to clean and restore, I prefer the deeper skillets.
Whoops! Never mind - wrong Griswold.
Bob
Saw a #1 skillet go at auction for $650.00 several years ago ,,,,,,, people who collect Griswold don’t mind spending the $$$ if they want it for their collection ,,,,,,,, 🙄
The small griswald circle like on this one is worth more as the later pans made had a larger circle. I had the whole set from #1 to the 20 including the nickel ones.
#13 was very pricey but like a lot of collectables the market softens eventually.
If the current bid is $40 it sounds like right now, its worth $40.
$75 to $125 for the skillet
Griddle about half that.
Good luck finding any info about seasoning & care of cast iron ... 😉😆😋
I cant help on value but I would do some internet searching on closed auctions or even active ones
we have a assortment of Cast Iron pans some we bought some from my mom and from my MIL
we use them some what often most are wagner a few are Griswold . every thing mom fried or baked was in a wagner made product
I grew up In Sidney Ohio home of Wagner cast iron foundry about 5 blocks from our house I knew and grew up around a lot of people working there ( several other cast iron and aluminum foundries there was a bunch of them ) they were all dirty / hot and hard work by shift end cast iron dust and sand casting dust had every one coated I remember a lot of eye injuries burns and assorted injury's always people with banadges and eye patches on them . the grinding wheels would explode ( come apart ) and really do damage to people
any way I did not know any one around us who had a shortage of cast iron skillets and pans 😁some were seconds ? some were employee discounted sales ( wink wink )😲 but for many years you could not go to a garage or yard sale even local auctions thet did not have countless Wagner ware for sale on the cheap .
we have a miniature set of pans they put out as a collectable item many years ago , some where here in the house 🙄
I do more cooking in them than my wife she likes to make corn bread in them and uses a griddle . I still like fried taters cooked in lard ( ya the good heart clogging stuff ) on occasion and deep fry chicken and pork chops .
well let us know if you go all in and buy any of them
Larry has a real "thing" for cast iron, so he's always sneeking things in here. I have a Griswold pancake maker on my fireplace mantle right now because it will not fit anywhere in the kitchen. Between the skillets and bean pots I think the floors in our house will fall in one day from the weight. (Kidding)
Things like this are pretty cool to have....I complain, but I do like this stuff ALMOST as much as he does.
I have a Wagner Krusty Korn Kob pan that I use fairly often to make cornbread sticks - found a recipe online with a review of the pan by the New York Tribune in 1918. Wife likes them as do I.
The only way I cook venison steaks is pan searing in cast iron - using the side burner of the gas grill as it's too smoky for indoors. Gotta get the pan pretty hot & I found an old charcoal grill cover to hold heat in any weather.
Anyone looking for info on seasoning cast iron, Google: Griswold and Wagner Society website, there is a page on seasoning pans using Crisco.
Oh, I thought you were referring to the old Griswald revolver, which is pronounced the same except it is a bit more valuable than an iron skillet! Technically it is Griswald and Gunnison but when I saw Griswold that was all I could think of.
