and 107 HI........I hereby declare this to be a basement day where it is about 69 degrees with 40 percent humidity !
I will update the mid year farm accounts, Listen to some great tunes from the 70's, clean a few firearms, sort and edit some pics I have taken in the last week or so and plan a trip to the range tomorrow when it is predicted to be much nicer out. (Especially since I now know what that knob is on an AR 😜)
Hope you all are in out of the heat today too.. And if you are not able to do that, be safe out there !!!!

You are lucky...........we have had over 30 days in a row of 100+ heat in Texas with no end in sight.
We are getting a little concerned with these draught conditions....chance of rain tonight. HOPEFULLY, something comes from it.. I hope you all get a little relief down there soon.

We had a quite wet spring and they forecasted a mild summer. Well, they were wrong. Around a dozen years we set the most 100 degree days in a year (in recorded history in Oklahoma) with ~66 days. I certainly hope not to repeat that again, but with it getting this hot as early as it has this year, that may very well happen.
It's been awhile........but back in 1980, in the Cross Timbers area of North Texas, we reached our hottest temperature on record......117 degrees F. Also of note, it occurred in the midst of another record......80 days IN A ROW of temps 100 degrees or higher.
Not to be outdone......2011 had a total of 100 days at 100 degrees or above.
Oops......forgot that Seymour, Texas (a bit southwest of us) reached 120 degrees in 1980.......an all time high for the state.

We normally see about five days of 100 or more each year, with most of them in July. We've blown past that like crazy this year, with almost every day so far in July being 100 and no clouds. Forecast for the next week is all 100+
Yesterday's humidity was 12% in mid-afternoon. Today, I'm seeing a few clouds already at dawn with the humidity up to 39%. That means some monsoonal flow from down around the Baja. We are beyond desperate for rain in the northern half of the state. Water restrictions in place, many reservoirs at critical levels, and extreme wildfire danger.
