I'm so dang mad right now....GRRRRR....tried to have a surprise party for someone, but didn't work
I sent out a few messages to people to see if I could get a group up for a surprise party. I kept getting told "YES" so it was slowly growing into a pretty nice get together. My Aunt turns 55, she is one year older than me. We have always been pretty close and gotten along like best friends more than relatives.
We have a pretty regular card game at my brother's house on Fridays. So, I just played it off like it was another card game night. I sent her a message saying we had one extra planned to come to the game this Friday and I was thinking Tacos would be good. She replied that she wasn't coming this Friday because she had plans with this lady I also know.
I tell her that I'd love to invite her to our card game and to give me her number. My aunt refuses. Then she goes on to tell me "she will think I'm trying to dump her if you invite her to do something"....which is crazy, but ok. I keep begging for her number and she is HELL BENT on keeping it from me.
I'm messaging everyone asking if they had this crazy person's number....nope.....not her son, none of us have it, but we all know her. Its just impossible to get in touch with this nut job and my aunt is just NOT going to give me her number so I can "invite her to cards" no matter how hard I try.
So, I'm ticked off beyond reason at this point and I just tell her......"I tried, but you're not going to let this happen....we have 20 people coming to my brother's house for a surprise party for you." I might have said something about having fun with the crazy person. I swear.....why does everything have to be hard? Why can't one thing be easy and stress free?

I take it she's not in the phone book? Also I imagine you got cops who buys from you so you could have asked them to look her up for a 10% discount.
no good deed goes unpunished
insanity has no bounds
Well, you tried.
How'd she respond when you told her?
guess you were the one suprised.........
This thing we are planning snowballed into a big ordeal without really trying. Every time we thought about someone we should invite they'd say "yes" and then we'd think about another person....now we are up to 25 people without counting any of the kids anyone might bring.
Having to tell her about the suprise party was SO FRUSTRATING! That was the one person none of us had any contact info on. We all know this person, but she is not easy to deal with, so we all just see her when she rarely shows up with my Aunt.
My brother's house is a perfect place to have a big get together and its going to be so much fun.....I was just really looking forward to doing a suprise party for the very first time ever!
Today I picked up party decorations. We are going with a fiesta theme. So, I have sombreros, stick on mustaches and tons of decorations along with balloons for everywhere!
I dropped a bunch of food off at my brother's house this afternoon.
My Aunt was upset when she learned why I was trying to get this lady's number and just couldn't get a way around it. If she had just said "ok, but don't be pushy when you talk to her" that would have been fine. The whole idea that I couldn't have her number ticked me off beyond all reason last night. I'm still a little mad over all of that mess.
I'm sure the party will be a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing all of the people that I rarely get to see.
Pretty sure it will be a all's well that ends well. Good on you Kasey. May you all have a great time.
Now to really surprise her, make sure no one is there when she shows up! Don
Ohhhh that would be a GREAT trick to play on someone if you were mean enough to do it.
Sounds like she is not exactly treating you in a friendly manner Kasey. I would just cancel the party and add a few card tables for all the extra "guests" if it were me.
We are too alike sometimes.....I'm the same age as her, we get along like best friends more than Aunt/Neice. So, its easier for us to push buttons and tick each other off and then move on. I was ticked off, but I'm over it now. Here is a picture of us from the 80s....WOW. I was home on leave from the Navy.
Now.....time is CRUEL!
Oh....and here are some of the stick on mustaches that I have purchased to go with the Sombreros I have bought for everyone.....
Don, that is freakin hilarious. LF, I think you should do this.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
