I've been trying a few different brands lately. Just had a glass of Plymouth on ice. It's like sipping ice water.
I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

As Tom T. Hall sang "That's Why I like beer"🙃
I had tonight's plain, over ice, to get a feel for the flavor. I enjoy gin in a myriad of ways (note that I can still type "myriad") from straight to all kinds of mixers.
BTW, the "dry" martini was not so named because of how much vermouth is added but what kind of vermouth. The ORIGINAL martini was gin and sweet vermouth. It was only when some unknown person tried dry vermouth that the "dry martini" was born. If you have not tried one with a good sweet vermouth (such as Cinzano) you have not truly had a martini. Mix it anywhere from 1/4 to 1/8 and enjoy. Do not even mention the abomination of a "vodka martini".
I like gin with a dash of traditional bitters, or orange bitters, or "dirty" with olive or onion juice, or just straight. Gin Rickeys, G&Ts...
I have tried and enjoyed Gordon's, Beefeaters, Aviator, Hendrick's, Bombay, Tanqueray, and now Plymouth. I don't care for the highly botanical/floral ones like Bombay Sapphire.
Mmmmm, haven't had any squished juniper berries with tonic water and a lime in a while, thanks for the reminder. The onion juice sounds a bit on the wild side though...
For straight "sipping", Bluecoat & Hendrick's.
Beefeater and Tonic with a squeeze of lime.
Heck Mark, with your guns and alcohol all you need is a shed full of tobacco and you could be your own ATF division....
Very nice!!!
Plymouth was the gin of choice for Travis Mcgee .
Admit it- you Martini drinkers are just hooked on olives.......
And pickled onions in a Gibson, which is where I get the onion juice. It's the same as a martini, but with onions instead of olives. It is probably an acquired taste.
now there is a man after my own heart, even down to the sugar free tonic water, though I keep a bottle of lime juice in the fridge for a squirt, instead of a squeeze........ I also like seagrams gin
"Mother's Ruin" !
I favor 'Guzzler's Gin', an old Red Skelton favorite.
Instead of lime, I add a splash of Margarita mix to my Bombay & tonic. One less thing in the fridge & it serves a dual purpose.
Way back in the day I drank a lot of Tanqueray and sweet n sour mix on the rocks... mostly just cold beer these days...
Long, long, ago, I was a big W.C. Fields fan. So long ago, I hadn't even reached legal age yet to be sipp'n on gin and such. Had an older brother along with several of his buddy's who party'd together and shared their Beefeater's with me because I did such good impressions of ole W.C.!
Not all that great at mimicking his voice but I could fall off my chair without spilling a drop of the sauce! 😁
Story was that there was a too-too sweet child actor (Baby Snookums) that Fields could not stand. Spiked the kid's orange juice with gin. Snookums was staggering around the movie set giggling- Fields was proclaiming "Walk him around! That kids no trouper!"
Someone once asked WC how he liked kids. His reply was "Not bad if properly prepared"😆
What was that old song;
"Evil women drink gin"?
I've started drinking Screw Drivers. Have tried a couple different Vodkas to include Grey Goose & Smirnoff. They all taste the same to me, when mixed with OJ.
Working on a bottle of Costco Kirkland American Vodka. I've cut my drinking way back to 1 to 2 drinks a couple times a week.
Pic from web:
I've taken up drinking matini's...........just because I picked up a bushel basket of different 'gins' at an estate sale (for about $4 a bottle)
Finlandia is good on the rocks.
I never had a G+T, in my life, thinking I didnt like gin and especially tonic but had one a few weeks ago and wanted another one
Dammit. Y'all are making me thirsty for a gin and tonic. Just did the inventory, I got the tonic water, got the lime. But no gin! Need me a bottle of Knotty Head. I know it is cheapo giin but I like it.
Drink what you like, allen.
OK, y'all win. This thread has made me snap. I went to the liquor store today, and bought a bottle of Knotty Head.
Sipping a few fingers of Tanqueray Rangpur as I type this.
This thread must have really caught on. We're having a tonic shortage here. I went to two stores & I bought the last available bottle today which was the store brand. The only thing left was diet tonic - ugh, gag.
I used to drink when I was a youngster and out of respect for my wife June I quit many years ago. She worried about me and was afraid I might become like her father. Her father was a drunk that beat her mother on a regular basis. Her father got so bad that it all finally all ended in a terrible disaster. June's youngest brother, Jimmy, was only 12 years old when he shot and killed their father with his shotgun while he was beating on their mother unmercifully early one morning when he came home drunk. It ruined her little brother's life but saved their mother and probably their older brother who had been getting beat on at times himself. No matter how much June and her 2 other brothers and 2 sisters tried to console him he was never the same after that. It was a terrible mess. Jimmy had all he could take and felt like somebody had to save his mom and everyone else so he did it himself.
Before June died she ask me to promise her I'd never drink and so far it's been nearly a year and I'm still keeping my promise.
I've attempted to savor a sip. Just couldn't aquire a taste for it. I don't know if it was the smell or the taste. Decided if I wanted a taste I could just chew on a pine tree twig.
everyone tells me the same thing, its like chewing on a pine tree, but with tonic and lime it tastes like grapefruit juice to me......
That's almost worse!
I always thought it tasted like juniper berries, not pine.
Likker , gun powder and gasoline don't mix on my watch. Never went hunting with booze
Remember " two fingers...in the bottom od a wash tub."?
I miss those guys
