So I won't miss out on accruing more time off. I tell you having to schedule in three two weeks time off is work. I think I may have to put in four next year? Also if I didn't have to wait a year to cash out 40 hours (lawed only knows if I'll be alive long enough to collect something a year away) I'd do it.

Whatever you say!
A lot of places have the use it or loose it
You still get the pay but loose the time off
Not sure but years ago when I worked. Obstruction no such thing as vacation time but the city workers I was around could bank therecomp time shave years off there retirement age and use all the saved vacation time they had banked
When I moved on to a factory we could only have 4 weeks total vacation any thing more was automatic cashed we could only carry over one week to the next year but we're also not allowed to carry over
And call in /sick days were use or lose every year they were part of our vacation time we could call in 5 days a year use vacation time
I was there 25.5 years held perfect attendance but then number one reason people were fired was over missong work amazing but true later on the family leave laws came in and man did people start abusing the system doctors signed off on somay bs reasons
Judy retired after working for 37 years but received credit for 39. She couldn't bank any of her vacation time because it was a case of use it or lose it. She was fortunate enough to be healthy and was able to bank most of her sick days each year and they really added up. Now most of the folks at her old office not only use up all their vacation and sick days but end up taking unpaid time off. The work ethic today sure leaves much to be desired. Bob
Since May 30, 2014, I'm taking the rest of my life off.
My brother was hired by a NE Ohio University for a maintenance job. He passed his 120 day trial and just this year has earned more paid time off than I get in a year after serving over 8 years with my company.
Amen
Yeah they get me on those "sick days" since I don't get sick or I don't want to inconvenience anyone. I wonder if I can say I'm menstruating since hey can't legally ask.
I think I have to take 4 two weeks off next year. That might get me closer to more manageable 200 hours instead of hovering close to the max allowed. Now if I could take all of it at once (two months off) I might enjoy the time off.
When I retired, I was allowed almost a year of added 'service time' for my accrued leave AND got paid for all accumulated 'time off and sick leave'. This was AFTER I'd had hand surgery and was off work for 90 days.
I am Not sure how much vacation time my oldest son gets and can carry over he gains more for working holidays
he is a maintance associate and works a lot of overtime and holidays however it must be a lot of time he has off
he takes two weeks off several times a year
His GF and him just got back from a trip out west for just over two weeks
not even counting all the single days he takes off but he has also worked there along time .
As for me its been eight years and a few months since walked out the factorys doors for the last time and never looked back every day is Saturday lol
