Not quite as good as some pictures posted, but here’s our moon being affected by several fires 🔥 west of us.

Yessir, we had pretty much that same view from our place.
If you look at a fire map of the U.S. it looks like Idaho and western Montana are an inferno.

Yup, Moose fire by Salmon grew 15k acres in 36 hours to 130k acres, threatening Carmen and Salmon. Local fire depts have sent resources over to assist with structure protection.
Ross fork fire blew up and is trying to crest Galena summit which will put it in the Big Wood river, the same drainage as Sun Valley albeit 20 miles from the summit
and two desert fires cooked off above Twin falls yesterday, one ate 10K + acres and the other 30K + acres in a matter of hours, these were 125 air miles from us, but you could smell and almost taste the burning sage in the air.
I reckon we will have smoke until snow.

Holy crap!
The loss of property and wildlife habitat from something that widespread is going to be horrific.
It will elk hunting this fall better in some places and worse in others, then next year it will be a smorgasbord for the critters.

Not to mention the value of the timber that is going up in smoke.

That cool front Thursday night brought us that smoke. Felt like I had gargled acid it burned my throat so much. The first whiff of it woke me up as if I had been hit with a cattle *. Fire scares me.
This morning, we have canyon winds (peak gust was 42 mph at 5:41 am) which may help a bit, but there's more smoke than wind. Can't wait for all that hurricane moisture to get here from the Baja. Tuesday, they say.
A smoke sun this morning
