I'm confused. "FFL Received: Awaiting FFL Receipt"
Overthere

Hello, all. This is my first post here, and my first firearms purchase on GunBroker.
I bought a pistol yesterday. I selected my local FFL from GunBroker's FFL List, and the "On File" icon does appear with my FFL's name. I recently relocated from out of state and this is the first time I'm using my selected FFL. Bad timing though; she's out of town until next week so I can't contact her for answers.
My GunBroker order states: "FFL Received: Awaiting FFL Receipt"
I don't understand what that means. The seller has not sent the pistol out for delivery, so I'm hoping forum members can clarify. Does the above statement indicate that the seller does have the necessary FFL documentation in order to ship the pistol?
Thanks

Here's what I see on the Invoice page in my account:
My 2 cents, they are waiting for a copy of your FFL of choice license.
Bad idea to select an FFL without contacting them first to make sur they are still in business, not on vacation etc. Based on your screen shot: FFLReceived in bold is just a title, "awaiting FFL receipt" is status and means the seller hasn't received the info needed to ship, all in my opinion, for what it's worth, use the contact the seller icon on the auction or contact GB support from any page on the auction side, these forums are not part of GB support and any answers are just opinions.
excellent response Ruger4me, in my humble opinion that is.
if they had received the FFL there should be a check mark in front of it like the other 2
Thanks for replies.
I sent an email to GunBroker. They sent back an auto response that included this excerpt:
"If the FFL Profile has the "FFL on File" icon, the buyer can select the FFL directly from the GunBroker.com Checkout order form during the buyer review. Once the FFL has been selected during buyer review the seller will have access to the FFL copy from their sold orders page."
My FFL does have the "FFL on File" icon, so based on the excerpt above plus your combined remarks, I think the seller does have access to the FFL license and should ship the pistol.
Prior to that, I used the "Ask Seller a question" link and received a brief email reply from the seller (a Top 25 Seller) stating the following:
"We do have your FFL and we will ship your current order to them and send tracking soon." In light of that, "Awaiting FFL Receipt" (per the screencapture image above) doesn't make sense.
As mentioned, this is my first GunBroker purchase, and the price paid for the pistol was quite low (last one in stock, etc) so fingers crossed re. the apparent delay.
Thanks
Relax. Your new pistol will arrive shortly.
The receiving FFL has to supply the sender with a copy of their license before they can ship the item.
Not according to a large FFL (large police supply outfit, with sales of new and "police return" firearms and accessories)
with almost 4K ratings on GB. Had to do payment by phone call and credit card, and took opportunity to ask the seller
rep if it was necessary for buyer's FFL to email a copy to seller, and the answer was no--if the buyer's FFL had copy on
file/available on GB, that was sufficient and "that's why it's there!". He noted "if the FFL (copy) is on Gunbroker and
the (seller) guy still wants a copied emailed, he doesn't know what he's doing."
I'm not an FFL and don't know what the ATFE regulations require, but I have done over a dozen purchases on GB.
Only a couple of the seller FFLs insisted that I get my receiving FFL to email a copy of his license (his license is on
file with GB). One of those sellers was a soup sandwich (pistol had undisclosed broken disconnector, would have
fired full-auto if I hadn't found & replaced--but seller claimed it test-fired fine), other was nice guy but was first
time selling on GB and was unfamiliar with everything about it).
If you are asking about what that means on the screen.....look at the check marks next to each step. It shows a check mark next to each thing that is done. What you posted a picture of has a checkmark next to Seller Review....a check mark next to Payment received.....NO check next to FFL received.
I am not a huge fan of this layout, it does confuse people.
Just because you choose an FFL online it does not always mean the seller receives a copy of the FFL. Some dealers are registered as being "ok to use them" for transfers, but they didn't go as far as to upload a copy of their license to the website. You'll have to call them and have them send the seller the FFL in that case.
Another resurrected thread....
