went and played with a couple cousins today, one shoots usually just few strokes over par. I beat him on the front nine I was one over.,,,,, and then lost it on the last 6 holes and was 10 over on the back. If anything else in your life was as agravating as golf, you would either shoot it, or divorce it...............

George Carlin had a great presentation on golfers😆
Golf is the most difficult ball game ever invented. The concept is dead simple, but the execution of it is incredibly hard.
I always thought golf with pals was just a way to drink beer with them and enjoy to outside. I finally gave my clubs to a pal in Omaha about 5 years ago. They had very little use! I still have my late dad's Wilson Staff woods from the late '40's. They have real leather grips. I never knew dad to play a round of golf.
My Dad, Mother and brother LOVED the game. Dad paid for lessons for me until I told him he was wasting his money at 15 years old. Never could make myself enjoy it. Mom was Women's club champ for 4 or 6 years in a row. Golf- a pleasant walk ruined!!😁
It's called golf because all the other four letter word are taken.
Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden
Golf backwards is flog - which is pretty much how I play it.
I'd elucidate, but I have a sunrise tee time. See y'all later.
Back home. As usual, my shots were Good, Bad, and Ugly -- without the theme music.
I used to love the game....old age and a bad shoulder has kept me from playing the last 4 or so years. I still get my vintage PING putter out and putt on a practice green from time to time..
And I agree, it is a game that will make you use all those words your momma told you not to 😲
You are lucky your old putter still works... oh wait, you mean the golf club...🤣
If I tried to swing a golf club it would be like the old cereal ad -- snap, crackle, pop, *&^%$#!
If I wanted that much expense and aggravation in my life I'd find a young blonde😎
I've been playing twice a week with the same 3 guys for years now. The 17th is our beer hole, the only one that really counts😆
Let's see now. My choices for the day are a golf club or a fishing pole.
I'll be along shortly with pictures of my catch! 😁
Disclaimer: I do not own any golf clubs but do have a gas powered golf cart. I call it my "Dune Buggy"
Leaned over to my sleeping wife and lovingly whispered golf course or intercourse. She opened one eye and told me to get 50 dollars out of her purse.
Golf is expensive? A full set of clubs costs about as much as one good scoped rifle. It's a good thing nobody here owns more than one rifle, right?
Meh ,,,,,,, golf is not difficult. Here’s what I received when I was 13 years old, for a hole in one at Tascosa CC on the 3rd hole.
Played on the HS golf team, two of my buddies turned pro and moved on to be CC Pros ,,,,,,, I drifted away from it due to everyone taking it too serious. If they missed a shot they were mad for the rest of the day. And I always looked like I was out there killing snakes !! 🤣
welcome to the club. I got a hole in one few years back and that same summer was with my son when he got one, I think I enjoyed watching him after his shot more than I did getting my own .......
I had an ace 10 years ago, and just missed one by two inches a month ago. I know it was two inches because the green still had dew, and the ball left a track curving right around the hole.
A close friend, a few months ago, shot an "Albatross".
Heck......I had to have it explained to me.
I guess we old racquetball players don't get out (off the court) much. 😇
forgemonkey.............you from Amarillo? I grew up there. Went to Tascosa HS.
No, did not grow up there, went to Tascosa HS my Freshman/soph years, 56-58 ,,,,,,,, loved it, except for the wind.
My father managed Tascosa CC ,,,,,, Had an aunt/uncle who lived there, and a cousin, Fred Ferguson who went to Tascosa, several years later.
That's mainly because the tools you're required to use for the game are ill suited to the task.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I have never been a sports fan. I won’t go out of my way to watch football or basketball. I will watch golf if I am visiting someone who is into it but nothing else interests me. I appreciate golf because it is man against nature and physics, not a bunch of meatheads arguing about the "ball”.
The other thing about golf is that it reveals character. You are your own referee enforcing rules and penalties on yourself. It is a lot like hunting and fishing in that regard - a pure sport in other words. Not just a game, like football or basketball, where rules are kept by watchdog officials and players are coached to cheat without getting caught. Those ball games are called "sports" to give them a better impression, but they are not.
We call those "move overs", "roll outs", "kick helps" and the like😎
Over many years, I've had similar thoughts concerning the sport of racquetball.
In most instances, all that happens is laid bare for ALL to see.......in a typically one-on-one sport.
A preacher friend would remind his doubles buddies........God is watching!!! 😇
