Sorry soreshoulder, all the non-extinct Native Americans, including the islanders have DNA from Asia, primarily Mongolia. Languages can even be traced to specific areas. Apart from Scandinavian evidence on the East coast of Canada, there is no evidence of settlement originating from the old world. Ya can't believe Thor Hyerdahl, though he was an entertaining read.
A member of the House Intelligence Committee warned Americans to stay away from DNA testing services as the information could be used to develop bioweapons targeting specific groups of Americans or even individuals.
Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., made the comments during an appearance at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado on Friday, saying many Americans are far too willing to give up their DNA information to private companies.
I ran my DNA 12 years ago and I must admit, I had some trepidation. I thought some 30-year old gal might pop up on my porch one day and say, "Hello, Daddy! Nice to meet you!"
That hasn't happened so far.
I was delighted to see that I am off-the-charts with high Neanderthal DNA. As my girlfriend's teen age grandson said, when I told him about my Cave Man ancestry, "That explains a lot." I say, if the shoe fits, wear it.
There has been no ill effect so far, the test basically confirmed family lore, I am Irish, Scottish and Welsh. As a registered Mick I can now tell the joke:
People even today go back and forth across the Bering Strait. They have very likely been doing it since before and then after the land bridge, no argument there.
Indeed. It's been well documented for decades. There was a reasonably good (though the presentation is horrible) documentary called "The Norse: An Arctic Mystery" on Amazon Prime detailing the current work by professor Sutherland who is expounding on research done in the 60s at a site in Newfoundland that chronicles Norse trading in the area even (ostensibly) prior to Lief Ericsson.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I absolutely never wanted to know anything more than verbal and written family history. I mean, what harm or good could it do? I couldn't change it if it was bad. I couldn't claim some lost glory if it was good so what's the point. Also, I am the end of my great-grandfathers paternal lineage. So, no one to pass any info down to my kids anyway.
Deep in the back of my mind, I wonder if there is some ulterior reason for publicly offering DNA testing. Is there a huge DNA database the government(s) of the world maintain just waiting for future kids to screw up and they'll be caught because of their parents curiosity.

Yeah, you can make money offering the service and more money selling information. No one can do anything significantly damaging to me with the info anyway. Why look for deep meanings and conspiracies, when most things can be explained by money?
There were some allegations in my family that one of my great grandmothers may have been violated by her employer at a general store back in the early 'teens.
I have a cousin who was diving into this and asked a number of us to do 23 and Me.
Sure enough..............it seems that there was an incident way back when............
Does not affect my identity............but it was a shock to my 3 aunts.
Seems like instead of a solid German ancestry.............my bloodline has been tainted by an Irishman..................rolfmao

The Native Americans arrived in New Mexico somewhere between 15 and 30 thousand years ago. Plenty of time to arrive
in The Carib for the winter of 1450.
I'm bettin' at least one DNA test here would come back as 'alien'...

What is an Irish Seven-Course Dinner?
A potato and a six pack.

Yes, I had one done along with giving my mom one as a gift. She came back just fine. Mine came back as almost-human like.
I researched my family tree.......
Turns out I'm the sap!
And since I am reportedly at least a wee bit o' Irish on me mudder's side, I will make the following statement:
God invented whiskey to keep the Irish from taking over the world.
My wife looked up her family tree ............................... turns out she is the Branch Manager. 😋
In fact Scandinavians (Vikings likely) are known to have crossed to Canada well before Columbus.

No ones getting my blood for DNA testing without a court order 😀
