Yeah, I have a 8 lb maul and wedge. I suppose a good splitting axe is on the menu as well. There is plenty to split and I haven't even cut most of my logs up yet. I only have about 3 or 4 cords on the ground ready to split at this point.

My go-to for this sort of sticky removal is lemon oil, actually.

12 more trees on the ground. One more slash pile I can't reach the top of. There's going to be some bonfires at my place once the snow flies.

We've determined you have 4' dia. trees, mathematically figured you need 14 ton splitter. You bought a 27 ton. Cleary this won't work as the trees are too small. Wait til trees are 8' dia. for the splitter you have.
It's not my fault y'alls determinations aren't perfect.

Wait a minute, du Schweinehund! I was splitting 36 inch white oak drums with a single stroke from the fierce Monster Maul. I loved that maul. I must admit that three years ago I bought the Fiskars maul. It doesn't work better than the fabled Monster Maul, but it is lighter weight and easier to swing. I also bought the Sotz kit and built a wood stove from a 55 gallon steel drum.

A "table" on each side is a good idea. Saves the back some. Good luck.😉
I recommend .002 tons.
In full disclosure I don’t even own a lawnmower. But if I lived in Idaho, I imagine this is the right tool for the job.

Yeah, baby! So sad that the Sotz Company went out of business.
I have it's twin in the building
I had one and I know why they went out of business!
